Did you install the drivers for the modem and is the modem detected while you connect to it with a ethernet cable?

Did you mistakenly used a crossover cable instead of a ethernet cable? Both look similar.

no the modem wasnt detected while i connect the ethernet cable... i can connect to it fine with usb, but not ethernet. i was wondering that it might be my eternet adapter, but few months ago in the airport i connect the public internet through ethernet and it was fine..

I'm not sure if the LED on your notebook PC lights up but if does that's when you know it's securely connected. A PC in my home network which is pretty old had that very same problem until I shoved the ethernet cable all the way in. At one point I had to replace the connector because it had loosened.
