I took out my wireless router and cable modem so I can return it to future shop, and in my neighborhood we're the only ones with wireless connection and our have a unique name/ password protected on it so I KNOW the connections is ours. The wierd thing is that how am I still recieving signals if my router / cable modem is disconnected? Please explain this strange technical wonder to me lol.

Obviously someone near you has wireless and didn't protect it.

Hahahha. I thought the same too. I thought someone is gonna ask how to connect to the net without a router.
Ah..well apparently one of your neighbors got internet and you're stealing it.

Yeah , like wut DK YANG and Lockinsocks said. You are basically just stealing someone's wi-fi signal. So obviously there is someone in your neighborhood(most liekly next door neighbors) that has a non-secured wireless internet router.

I don't use wifi but maybe you could try making sure yours is turned off. On my laptop there is a little signal button next to the clock so maybe you can see if you have that and make sure it's turned off. That's my only answer.
