My mom got really really p*ssed when I failed a subject, and complained how expensive my ourse was and that I wasn't doing my best for it[but I was! T_T]. So to cool down things, I told her that I'll just shift so we'd spend less.
So yeah. I am an art student shifting to Asian Studies. So I need your opinions on it. If you're taking it, is it hard? And what are the subjects that you have to take? Do you have language subjects and stuff?
It'd be more helpful if you study in the Philippines[Or the same Uni I study in, UST], but even if you are studying elsewhere, I'd also like your opinions.
I love art, yeah. But it's been too hard on me, and if I fail once more, my mom says no more Uni for me. T_T So instead of risking it, I'm shifting.
I'm a freshman right now, so if I shift this semester, I'd only have to enrol my minors + the subject I failed last semester.

Are you positive that you want to switch to Asian Studies? Is there anything else you have interest in perhaps?
Also, you can find out the requirements of classes for that degree from the undergraduate program of the department, which is most likely somewhere in the Liberal Arts section. Language is also a requirement for any BA degree.

are you randomly switching to some major??
i think you should research your options and pick one that you are interested in!
maybe you are doing bad in the Arts because it doesn't interest you.

kiss me deadly: Kinda. I'm torn between my art course and shifting, because I'm scared that I'll do bad. Yes, it is a requirement, I know. Aside from our choice of asian language, Spanish is a mandatory subject[mainly because our school was built by Spaniards in the 1600s]
laurenlikewhoa : No, it was a third option for me[second option was Interior Design]. I took an art course because it was what I wanted, but I found it difficult. My mom's mad at me because she thought I'd do good in a course I picked for myself.

ME!!!
im doing International Studies with a concentration in East Asia.
well, basically like asian studies.
cause i have to do a lot of asian classes.
im doing study abroad program this summer.
so that'll cover my asian classes.
im doing french as my language.
since it's from high school, and since i can relate it
to how the french use to colonalize back in the days in asia.
but.
if you like asian things like, language, culture, it's easy.
you can be more narrow. like.. asian studies concentration in ... korean.
something like that.
good luck!

^i'm just curious, is the course only about the history of Asia? or is it included with politics, like international relations and development theories for third world countries?

Fine Arts-Advertising. I stuck with it. I study at UST.
Asian studies is quite cheap, actually. Well, compared to Advertising.
I don't see the point of this thread now. Someone please close this, I decided not to shift.

My roomate's major is Asian studies, in my opinion its sooo easy. She just has projects and papers and thats basically it...I think its easy.
I also took Asian American studies for race and critical thinking and I found it...kinda like...easy but you have to get it right...I ended up getting an 'A' in her class but I kinda had to work for it...and I ended up taking it with my bestfriend and she got a 'C' in it lol...so I guess it depends on how your writing skills are in the end.
Bur then again...I go to school in the US...so I dont know how it is out there in the world...

i'm majoring in asian studies (east asian studes)
i agree with people here...with their questions
are you sure you want to switch?
is it what you want to study?
'cus from your post, it seems that you're really interested in art and fashion area.
don't know about difficulty of majoring in asian studies, 'cus it really depends on the school.
i go to hopkins and the courses are impossible to get an "A"
this major is more like history major, so there're lots of reading and writing.
so i agree with kireisnowtenshi on writing skills~
also, what are the requirments for the major?
'cus my school requires 6 semester of language. so ask your advisor about it.
and don't force yourself to study something that isn't interesting to you.
it'll only make it worst and may affect your grade.
not sure if this helps,
but good luck~
