Oh. I'm in Australia too. I made a thread asking about the price of the iPod Touch in China and it was pretty similar to the price here. I'd say get it here, because you will have warranty and stuff.

Buy it locally, there are quite a bit of problems that you should look into or else you'll have a half-assed product that you can't rectify.

buy it in australia. you can`t get the same service if you buy it all the way in china.
forget the price, at least you guaranteed yourself you got the ipod touch and warranty.

are you getting it shipped? if so...beware of extra fees like brokerage/tax/s&h.

i just ordered one from the US ($395CAN after s&h for 16gb) and getting it shipped to my home (canada). thing is, im sorta worried apple may not allow me their extended warranty (since it doesnt have a receipt) and also, worried about getting taxed an extra 14% if it they randomly inspect it dry.gif but for me, its still cheaper (retails for $450CAN + tax = $513)

so ya...watch out for those things... maybe its better if you bought it locally..unless you can get someone to pickup one for you overseas...

Buying overseas can be cheaper and in Asia, HK has the cheapest ipod prices. However, you have to be aware that there's no support service or local warranty. If you or relatives happen to go overseas, you can try to claim the GST back.

As you may already know, youtube mobile is aimed specifically for mobile phones. This is the Touch we're talking about, also with a full working browser, so you get the full version of youtube.

i would recommend buying here in australia, as another australian resident i can understand how expensive ipod's can be over here. but you have to remember that buying locally has it's benefits warranty wise.

for example, i think replacing the ipod battery would be easier if you bought it here compared to hong kong. the same also goes for the headphones which have received alot of criticism regarding their build quality.

then again, one is set to save quite a fair bit with the price of an ipod touch being around $335ish aud compared to the $410 here =\\.

^ actually, I-pods are pretty reasonably priced here in Australia. They're just a bit cheaper in HK. I think you should jsut get one here... I haven't seen them being advertised in Sydney yet... But they're out in HK already. That's the only reason I'd get one in Hk, if the release date difference was really far apart... but I don't go for I-pods anyway...So yeah..

when he says my name, I can't stop smiling.

there is a full youtube but you have to view it in the youtube program
which isn't all that bad but its a bit different like when you search you can find results but little things like how I like to click a username to browse their videos dont quite work

Of course if you open it in safari but when you click links it doest always launch the youtube program and just give you a dumb no flash player installed error kind of annoying.
