If you never got a recovery cd, chances are.. you probably had to make one when you first got your computer. That's the case with most computers these days, and if you never made a recovery cd, you're going to have to get it off the manufacturer for a fee. Otherwise you can just use a windows cd and reformat it.

Just because you have "A virus" doesn't mean you have to reformat. Just do an online scan with Trend Micro or Panda and try getting it deleted like that.

If you have a partitioned harddrive C and D, then one of them is most likely a recovery drive. To access them hit F2 or F10 or whatever your computer says when you turn on your computer.

If you don't have that either you can download Windows XP illegally on torrent sites and burn it on CD or go on Amazon.com or local Fry's/Best Buy and buy a Windows XP CD.

Maybe you don't actually need a restore cd.. http://www.soompi.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=174206
Sounds like they used the restore program in windows.. Often under start, Programs, Dell or something like Recovery

Hi,

My name is Todd and I'm with Dell's online outreach program. If you didn't receive a Microsoft Windows reinstallation CD you can call Dell's technical support for your area and have one sent to you, for free. Your license with Microsoft allows for you to reinstall Windows off one of our CDs. The CDs will be marked as Dell Microsoft Windows Reinstallation and depending on which version of Windows you have they can be different colors.

Let me know if you have any questions. I'll stop back later to see if there is anything else I can do to help.

Thank you,

Todd
