**NOTICE**
I KNOW WHY THIS HAPPENS. I KNOW HOW TO KEEP IT FROM HAPPENING. THE PURPOSE OF THIS POST WAS TO SHARE THE EXPERIENCE (the total weirdness of the feeling) NOT TO ASK ADVICE ON WHAT, HOW, OR WHY. IDK WHY THIS WAS MOVED TO HEALTH AND FITNESS, BUT JUST KNOW THAT BEFORE YOU POST, I ALREADY KNEW WHY MY ARM FELL ASLEEP.AND NO IT'S NOT SLEEP PARALYSIS wink.gif
**NOTICE**

then wake up in the middle of the night and can't feel your limbs!? o.m.g. the night before last i fell asleep with my arm over my head..

kinda like this:

well anywho, i woke up in the middle of the night b/c i was cold. when i went to lift the covers higher, i didn't feel my arm..lol at that point i'm groggy as all get out, so when my left arm moved, but not my right i ohmy.gif and looked over..i didn't see my right arm!!

so then i was like excl.gif crazy.gif ohmy.gif and i start feeling for my arm with my left hand(i felt the spot next to me, my "shoulder", which was actually my arm pit lol )but ..i didn't feel it! omg you guys, i was so noided! i actually grabbed my arm a few times, but my right arm wasn't receiving ANY feeling at all so my left hand felt something soft, but the arm didn't register my hand touching it, so my brain didn't register it was there..does that make sense?!

anyway, i started to tears.gif excl.gif crazy.gif tears.gif *where'smyarmwhere'smyarmwhere'smyarm* freak until i calmed down a bit and felt my hand..omg it felt so weird..kinda like it was dead. it was SO HEAVY! well...to make a long story short, i got my arm "back" , laid in front of me and started massaging it back to life..i have never been so greatful to feel those pins and tingles in my life..like seriously..someone could've came and stabbed me in the hand and i wouldn't have felt it....twilight zone stuff fo' sho'.

has this ever happened to you!?
~~~~~~~~
oh this is VERY random, but kinda on the same topic, but a couple of times when i was younger i've woken up in the middle of the night and not know where i was...like i'd fall asleep in my mom's room and wake up in my own..it would freak me out..lol..so i used to think i had magic powers and purposely fall asleep in weird places...and everytime i'd wake up in my room...i was convinced..until one day my mom yelled at me because she was tired of always taking me to my room ph34r.gif...*fantasy killer* dry.gif
laugh.gif fantasy..
Anyway, that is weird.. erRr.. i mean, i get numb sometimes and can't feel my feet, but i don't know how it is in the middle of the night. Basically, if you're deep asleep your body is as well.. it's resting.=) So i guess, you woke up too suddenly and @ the time, your neurons that signal that you're conscious hasn't reached your brain yet. >_< I dunno how to explain, but that makes sense to me. smile.gif No worries... phew.gif
No, nothing like that ever happened to me. Besides the times where I wake up and I could barely feel one of my arms then I begin to feel the tingles after a bit.
That's happened to me loads of times. The first time I freaked out too and grabbed my numb arm with my good hand and started shaking it. For a second I thought it was someone else's arm in my bed with me. O___O;
When a limb falls asleep, it's usually because circulation has been cut off. When you woke up and you had absolutely NO feeling in your arm, it's because it hardcore fell asleep and circulation had been cut off for a long time. You were probably sleeping either with your body on your arm in a weird way or with your head resting on it.
Haha , this is when I kick myself up for bed . Literally . Then I can a really bad calf pull . Super retarded ! And I won't be able to walk properly for the next day . sweatingbullets.gif
I thought this would've just been a intense case of no blood circulation.
I experienced a minor case of what you described.
Only coz of the position my hand was in, no circulation was getting through.
After a while, blood comes back and it's all fine.
LOL, rather than freak out I just thought: "Stupid hand. Wake up."
YES! AND OMG, it's damn scary. tears.gif
I tried to shake the "dead arm" but I couldn't feel anything!!
It happened to my legs too. As a matter of fact, both of my legs.
I can see it moving but I couldn't feel a thing. blink.gif
That happened to me a several times before ^^
I was also very shocked at first but then i just realised that it's because the blood couldn't stream to my arm which causes ur arm to be numb and just..feelless? (is that even a word? lol tongue.gif)
But ye i guess it's not that big of a deal then haha ^^
Didn't happen to me yet, but believe it or not I just woke up...
I slept for 24 hours. My brain was going like "It's 8:40 and it's dark in the morning?!"
My dad had to explain this bizarre thing to my sleep and now I know it's 8:40 at night.
How can someone sleep that long?! It's like I've been knocked out or something.
Edit --
I just looked at the calendar at the corner of my laptop a few hrs back, and it was still Nov.2,2007. vicx.gif
Hmm....Reminds me of something that happened to me just this morning. o.o When I woke up, I went to go wash my hands so that I could get ready for school and stuff. But, my hand was kind of reacting oddly...I could feel it, but it felt really numb, kept on twitching, and my fingers kept on sticking to each other. Even though it wasn't like, clammy or anything they would just all of a sudden stick together like magnets! Hahaha, but it went away after a short while.
to all of those who said sleep paralysis..no. it's not when you can't move your body. it's just like if you sit on your foot and it falls asleep that's all. it was just that instead of being fully awake and aware, i had just awoke, therefore i couldn't think straight.
I don't know if this has been mentioned but there is not enough blood flowing. When you go into those types of positions, your body is not getting enough blood circulated into those areas. Therefore, your body reacts with numbness.
