Yup, I watched it a week ago with my friends. One thing that you have to remember when you go watch it: it isn't a comedy. Because the trailer presents 'Lars and the Real Girl' as a comedy, I think most people will go into the movie theatre having that expectation in their minds. But it's not to say that the movie does not have humor - it's more subtle, almost close to being dry humor IMO. Also, the movie's pacing is sort of slow-paced, where everything gradually reveals itself.
Oh! And also another thing: don't see it for its realism. It's almost as if 'Lars and the Real Girl' is set in some kind of imaginary town because everyone is truly kind because (as seen in the trailer) they come to accept Bianca quite quickly, almost unrealistically. But it's endearing at the same time because that's the depth of the town's affection for Lars.
I won't say anymore that will ruin the movie for you except to say that I really like the movie.
Okay, sorry but one more thing!
Ryan Gosling's performance is incredible. He doesn't speak a lot but you can see what he wants to say through his actions, his awkwardness and his inability to communicate with others. And when you see how he slowly attempts at opening up (again, I won't say anymore), you come to understand why the town loves him so much.

Hi
I just thought I should let everyone know about this movie.
You know when you hope that one day the west might make movies a emotionally powerful and sensitive and relevant like Korean or Japanese dramas/movies?
Well, this movie does that. I think it is because the background of the characters comes from Sweden (Lars and his brother are from the nordic countries) and those types of people are realistic and sensitive.
The movie is about a young man who falls in love with a plastic doll. He brings her home to his brother and his family and asks them to accept her. They do so and they also get the whole community to help (including the ambulance drivers).
The movie is a great lesson in learning to live together and support each other and it is quite humorous too !
it has a 7.9 rating on imdb with over 6,000 votes.

Ryan Gosling is an excellent actor, who portrayed the character exceptionally. This movie really touched my heart. At first, I was really bewildered because I couldn't grasp what was going on. Here I thought the movie would be humorous and light-hearted, but I was really wrong. You can say I was being a little immature for thinking that way and raising an eyebrow. Once I got the gyst of what the movie was really about, I began to appreciate the meaning behind the movie. It's one of those movies that will definitely jerk a tear from your eyes and sympathize with the character and his experiences.

"It's not the face, but the expressions on it. It's not the voice, but what you say.
It's not how you look in that body, but the things you do with it. You are beautiful."

I finally got myself to watch this a couple of weeks ago. I agree with the rest of you that have said Ryan Gosling was an exceptional actor in this film. I was pleasantly surprised by his acting skills. And I just adore Emily Mortimier.
Although I understood the main concept of the film and realize that a focus on WHAT exactly happened to Lars to set him off would detract the audience from the main theme... I have to say... there was a HUGE part of me that really wanted to know, indefinitely, what had happened to him.
All in all, sweet movie.
