if i were to conduct a study on american children and only pick a group of kids from a rich suburban school district for the study, would this group still be representative of american children?
1. no b/c they're not an average american child
2. no b/c the group is not really diverse (what i meant is that the school's populations is less racially, ethnically and economically diverse)
3. yea b/c they have all advantages
4. yea b/c public education is available to all children
i need to pick one of these 4 choices

2. no b/c the group is not really diverse (mainly white kids)
you can't do a study without making the selection diverse.
it's like, you want to study pets. and you chose only to study dogs, the outcome of the study can't be applied to all pets.
same here. you want to study american children, but you only choose rich american children - that just won't work!

I would pick #1 instead of #2. The majority of the nation is not as diverse as people think. Many of us just live in areas where there is more diversity. Like I'm from San Jose too and it's pretty diverse her, but other places like in the South or Midwest or wherever it's predominantly white. A lot of places, the children there have never even seen an Asian or whatever. #2 is only true to a certain point, meaning economically. To me, America has actually more poverty than we think there is, but not as bad as the world definition of poverty. Plus rich kids have advantages of good education, future, materialistic things... but the average American doesn't have all of that.
