i know there are already heaps of threads on dieting, but i'm after specific tips on how to STICK to a serious diet/lifelong change.
on tuesday i've decided to do the master cleanse detox diet, and i need to know how to stop eating junk - as i seriously lack willpower.

the reasons i'm doing this is i believe i'm very unhealthy, i weigh 70kgs and i'm 5'7", thats alot of extra baggage!
i also feel that there are so many toxins in my body, that i just need a kickstart to healthy living.

please no bashing, i'm after specific advice & tried + tested tips people can give me for sticking to a diet.

I learn about "Planning" in PDHPE in school. Oo" I failed the exam though.
However, there's a basic principal -
SMARTER.

S pecific - Be definite in what you want to achieve and your aspired rewards.
M easurable - Develop a way of masuring your progress and encourage yourself positively.
A ction Plan - Develop the actual plan you want to do.
R ealistic - Set challenging goals (not too easy, not too hard).
T ime Frame - Allocate time during the day for your plan. Make a deadline for finishing the programme.
E valuate - Periodically evaluate your programme and re-adjust where appropriate.
R eward - If you are successful, congratulate yourself with something that will motivate you.

I REALLY hope that helped. x___x
I ran to my room and fetched my exercise book just to provide correct procedure.

Good luck! :)

ermm i hope this might not offend you.. but look at your body, if you are not satisfied with it and want to get thinner, then make the choice to get fit. look at your body and think, "would i want to get thinner and healthier? or should I just keep on going and eat whatever I want?"
Also, eat a fruit everyday, it's good for you ^-^
Oh! and if you're still in school and you have like a Fitness//P.E. class, take a sport class and participate a lot in it. I swear, it can get to the point where you don't want to do it but it really helps ^-^
Or maybe you can set a time limit of doing excercises everyday, like maybe an hour or perhaps 30 min. It doesn't feel long when you work out wink.gif
Good Luck!

^ i agreed.
if you want to lose weight,
you must have a dream weight, right?

the most convenient way is to be inspired
print out pictures of whoever with your dream body
and stick them in front of where you always are.
those pictures really gives you determination boost when you're feeling lazy.

i used this idea when i was losing weight,
the pictures i used were mainly those skinny ulhjjangs
and some of the sexy models like leah dizon.
using pictures that expose more body part would be better,
but it really depends on you.

Doing the master cleanse would not be a good way to learn how to stick to a life long healthy change.
I'd say do some reading about nutrition from reliable sources

xxsara - thankyou SO much, that definitely helped! i've saved it on my compy for future reference!

jeanniev - i'm not offended hehe, i appreciate your suggestions! unfortunately i'm not in school anymore.. but i do alot of walking and i'm constantly on my feet at work, so that helps (i think!)

addickshun - that's not a bad idea actually.. i took a photo of my belly last night, and when i looked at it i was seriously disgusted! so i photoshopped it, to make myself look like how i'd want to look. so hopefully thats inspiration too!

nymph - is there any reason why doing the master cleanse is not a good idea? can you justify that at all, i'm just curious as to why you think it's bad? i've done alot of research + i spoke to my doctor/nutritionist and he believed it would be an effective way to clean out my body and kickstart healthy living. he told me that a common misconception is that people need to eat all the time; where as fasting is an effective way to stay healthy. what do you think?

i don't think i eat thaaaaaaaaaaaaat badly (compared to the 400lb ppl i see on dr.phil & oprah) i'm a vegan, so i don't eat any dairy or meat.
i just think i rely too much on processed foods like breads and canned soups, oily spreads like peanut butter, dark chocolate (i eat a block of lindt 70% cocoa every 3 days - i'm so addicted), rather than healthy raw fruit, nuts and vegetables.

heavy exercising is not an option for me, as i suffer a heart condition, and i don't want to risk going to hospital again. (however i would like to take up dancing!)
i do alot of hiking (i love the outback!) and light jogging on soft sand (i live 2 minutes from the beach) so it's not really my fitness i'm worried about. mainly all the heavy metals, and gunk in my body and colon (yucky word hehe)

my friend emma has bought some footpads from china, which apparently sucks alot of metals out of you, does anyone know if these work?
she used them and she showed me all the black gunk that got stuck to them, after she used them for one night! crazy! or is it just dirt?

emma also decided she wants to do the master cleanse too, and is going to crash at my house for 10 days whilst we're doing it - so we can help each other along the process! we're very competitive so i'm doubtful we'll give into the temptation of junky foods!

thankyou all for your replies <3
