KT is not exempted... He has no reason to. He just deferred it... Any guy in Korea who's not sick cannot skip military duties... The person who was exempted was WonBin... He went through training and served for several months but he was injured so he cannot serve in the military anymore...

I hope PHS can defer the date but then, it's hard for him cause he doesn't really have a reason, unless he's going to release a new album.

cheka...i think i am too obsessed...the performances you mentioned..i have them burnt into discs..haha... i am a collecting fanantic...i intend to go around collecting his clips..if i recall correctly, i have 5 full discs of PHS performances, haha...oh yeah..that rendition of Hurricane..it's to die for..and i was also pleasantly shocked at his performance of "A whale's dream"...A whale's dream is my favourite Bobby Kim song!...it's as if he can make other gasoos' songs into his songs..he sang as if the songs were composed for him!
PS: I must be yucking away because of the aftereffects of watching the YDH show which Park attended for this month..i am still very amazed by his performance.

Same same! I have a playlist titled "Park Hyo Shin" on my mp3 player and my wallpaper is PHS's photo...basically i am just listening to every song on the playlist...my playlist of him is quite complete with all his 5 albums, songs in OSTs and another song from a compilation album...

Now, i am quite into his first album, i thought the way he sang "Pianist" is so sexy..hmm...oh..the way he sang "annyeong" in that song--sexy sexy sexy! Haha

wow! what a great exchanging of thoughts about hyo shin ssi we have here..... yup no doubt about it this guy is really awesome, speaking of which, the performance in YDHLL was really superb, a true born gassoo is making our world rocks..... i have to agree on what suk ling wrote, about turning an "ost song" into a "park hyo shin song",( we all do know that snowflower was a a revival or an adaptation from mika nakashima's yuki no hana) , but for me it's like hyo shin owns the song hehehe (am i being too biassed?). and that's one thing that i like about him he takes ownership (not in a bad way) on every song he sings

and yes inez agree, i also wanted him to fulfill his duties in military service as a citizen of korea, and for me fulfilling his responsibilities will gain him alot of respects and love not only from us but also from other people.

Kangta is a different case. He's Korean ambassador in China for many events. He gets to delay his duty because of the work he does, not because of really working on his album. Some artists use school as an excuse to delay the service, while others may use their album as an excuse... They just have to send the paper work into the military and see if they aprove of the deferral.

I'm not sure if PHS is still continuing with his studies. If he is, then there's a high chance he can defer the date... That means, we get to see him more...

I loved the YDHLL perf of Snowflower... It was really like a concert, where he's signing, without music... It shows how talented he is... I agree that PHS should be made an OST singer cause he's got a nice voice and ppl would be more attracted to the drama because of the title song... Yuki no hana by Mika Nakashima really isn't that great... I don't feel her emotions... I prefer PHS's version... It's so emotional...

I didn't really mean making PHS an ost singer--that will be too wasteful and in the process will potentially limit the genre of music he's into..i am fine with what he's doing now..in fact, i highly suspect he will be doing less of ballads and more of other genres in future, looking at his image now..

Actually, i don't know if u all have noticed this but try listening to the instrumental version of "snowflower" in MISA ost and we will know Park's singing prowness..i mean, the instrumental version is actually very boring in nature, consisiting entirely of chords! This is very different from other MR/instrumental version of theme songs in other osts for which composers colour the pieces heavily so that with or without the singer's involvement, the pieces can be heard on their own..it's realising this that i began admiring PHS almost 3 years ago..many other singers have heavy accompaniment and stuff, maybe trying to mask or cover their intrinsic singing weakness..but this is not the case for "snowflower"..it really takes a skilled singer to fill up the song which has very simple chords in nature. Now, i think that's what a real gasoo should try to achieve. Maybe i am very fed up with all the so called "singers" i see nowadays..Park is truly a gem to be treasured and appreciated..

PHS does have an amazing voice. He doesn't need the back vocals to hide anything. I've been listening to so many new bands and singers, it disgusts me that they can be out of tune with the help of back vocals...

Thxs for the pics! I knew that he graduated as a music major right? Ah, can sing so well and compose as well..what more can u expect? No wonder i keep on feeling that he has perfect pitch. You can tell from his live performances..the renditions are not out of key..:)Now, i need to know which songs he composed..

PS: Come to think of it now, PHS can have a music career for life, imagine if he chooses not to sing (NO!, let's not think of that, lol), he can be a singing instructor. And i do not mean those noraebang kinda of instructor, instructor as in a real kind. He can impart so many singing techniques to those aspiring singers. What's more, he can compose and play the piano..tsk tsk..i better visit this site less often, i am getting out of control, lol..

Thanks, sha, for the pics. Rehearsals for his national tour concerts. That was after he was discharged from the hospital.
I'm still repeating Joeun Saram! Need to get the whole song familiarise in my head. Then I would pick another track! I've never been so in love with someone's voice until now. Like immunophilic mentioned, I just love his unplugged version, like the ones he did in the radio interviews. No one could do it the way he does!!!

Also, the more I look at him, the more I like his mouth. I used to find his hands so sexy, still does but now also notice his mouth, the way they move when he sings, just something there which I love!!!

actually,now that i'm hooked with park hyo shin's voice,the other singer's voice just doesnt reach out to me..theres always something wrong with their song, or voice..its just not emotional enough,no strong vocals or anything..i fell in love bad with hyo shin's voice!~aigooo!~~

I was reading the english blog of PHS and I had no idea he swallowed a bug because he was so nervous!

Edit: About the army thing...my Korean friend told me about a singer who avoided his military duties by escaping to China and now he's exiled from S. Korea.

I understand that all korean men HAVE to serve unless they weren't born there...that's why I was mad when I thought Kangta was exempted...but he was just deferred then? I know PHS has to go sometime but...I'll miss him so much
