i think it has something to do with being controlled by the jmicron thing.. like wen i right click the cd drive and go to cd properties i cant make it go into recording mode... and it says the drives are SCSI mode...
wen i use nero.. wen it hits 100% it says burning at 48x failed... i tried this twice.. i think i cant burn now so iunno but i can read cd's.. o_o
Where are you doing these things? Like when you say you right-click the drive and goto properties... are you talking about My Computer / Windows Explorer or something else?
Where do you see it say the drives are SCSI? In any case, it's normal for optical drives to be interpreted as SCSI drives. It has nothing to do with the actual physical interface but more of the SOFTWARE layer used to communicate with the drive. Optical drives use an ASPI layer to communicate with your computer and allow you to read/burn things. In fact, ASPI =

Interface and it's required for optical drives to work properly. Nero uses it's own ASPI drivers, DVD Decrypter has built-in ones and Windows has it's own [except 2K & XP which completely lacks an ASPI layer at all].
I would first try redoing your ASPI drivers first using v4.70 as posted above. If it doesn't work then try a newer/older version of it. I could not use v4.71 on my system... DVD drive wouldn't burn CDs or DVD with it on my system but it may be different for you. For the older version of Adaptec's ASPI drivers, try ForceASPI at
http://www.radified.com/ASPI/forceaspi.htm. It is based on Adaptec's ASPI v4.60 which is considered the most reliable version out there.
I recommend ForceASPI if reinstalling v4.70 doesn't work. Just remember that you need to
REBOOT after installing any ASPI layer for it to take effect.
PS: JMicron is not the cause of your problems. It's required for all of your motherboard's features to work properly. Most P965-based chipset users (myself included) use the very same JMicron controller as you do and the very same
jraid.sys driver.
