There's no easy way to do a pull up.

You've got to work on your biceps and forearms. Do some dips too. You look scrawny.

I'm no expert on pull-ups - my limit right now is only 12 perfect reps, but I definitely know how to improve on them, since pull-ups USED to be my weakest exercise. I could always do like 30+ dips but only like 4-5 pull-ups at a time. Anyway, the best way to improve on pull-ups is to do pull-ups, regardless of how embarrassing it is. I know it feels pathetic only knocking out a few, or maybe even 1 rep at a time, but do that 1 rep as many times as you can, as often as you can. Every week try to either improve the number of reps, or the number of sets you're doing. It's a long and gruelling process, but I PROMISE you if you keep at it without fail, you'll be shocked at your progress.

Some pull-up plans you can use are:

Pyramids - Do 1, rest, do 2, rest, do 3, rest... until you can't do the next set. Then do one more for as many reps as you can. Don't bother going back down the pyramid since your muscles will probably be shredded by this point.

Negatives - Jump yourself up to the finish position of the pull-up, and lower yourself down as slowly as you can. Rinse and repeat.

Pull yourself up where your chin is past the bar. Maybe even to the point where your chest is at the bar.

Kiplings - I personally don't like kiplings since I do pull-ups off of a rafter and I feel like I'm gonna go flying off, but they're a great alternative (don't rely on them too much though, they're much easier than a regular pull-up!). It's on this page, just look for it

Anyway, hope this helps you improve on this ever-so-important exercise. Oh yeah, as far as frequency goes, I do pull-ups 5 days a week without any problems. Just make sure you get at least 1-2 rest days though!

I 100% agree with Johnny Y. There is no easy way out. If you want to get good at pull-ups you have to work on pull-ups, even if you cannot even do one. Here is a tip. Every time you pass that bar, try your best to do the most pull-ups you can. In a short amount of time, you'll be doing many reps like nothing. Good luck.

you can't just think of something then get something,
especially with your body. you need to work on it.
