The Athens Olympics are approaching and Korea is looking for gold in every sport. Korean women in particular have done well in almost areas except for the ignored and looked down upon sport of Team Handball. And when the team is assembled, it doesn’t look when the players who show up are women in their 30s ad teens with piercing. Can this oddball group overcome their personal differences and hardships and somehow come together as a team?
UHM Tae-woong Joins The Best Moment of Our Lives
UHM Tae-woong will play opposite the female leads MOON So-ri and KIM Jung-eun in the real-life sports drama The Best Moment of Our Lives(Woori Saengae Chwegoui Soongan). The depiction of the Korean national women handball team’s performance at the 2004 Athens Olympics is in the hands of director LIM Soon-rye. UHM declared through a spokesman that director LIM was a main reason to commit himself to the project.
UHM is cast as the new manager of the national handball team. He introduces a tough European scientific training method to drill his team which leads to friction between the players and the coach. UHM’s character was a prodigy athlete who became a star player in Europe. His good looks and his tendency to steal the spotlights with his showmanship also contribute to the love-hate relationship between the coach and players. However, the team went on to challenge the world’s strongest handball nation Denmark at the Olympics in a heroic game which culminated in two extra times to decide the game.
UHM and MOON successfully worked together on last year’s Family Ties (Gajokeu Tansaeng). The critically acclaimed feature by director KIM Tae-yong deconstructs the traditional family in Korean society.
UHM’s double role as twin brothers in the television drama Resurrection (Boohwal) got him noticed as a potential leading man, even though Resurrection failed to reach the general audience because the popular teen television drama Princess Hours (Goong) aired in the same time slot. Resurrection did make UHM a popular star in Japan and his upcoming television drama Devil receives great attention from anticipating Japanese media and fans.
