Girl's Generation doesn't care about collage. So it seems.

Six out of the nine Girls Generation members are high school seniors who should be cracking the books to prepare for their college entrance exams this Thursday, but these girls could care less about school. Similar to BoA, the nine Barbie dolls are putting their entertainment career before their school work and will not take the exam. Did Girls Generation make the right choice?

Did Girl's Generation make the right choice?

1) Yes-school is overrated
2) No-college degree is still most important in our society
3) Don't Care

TAKE OUT ONLY WITH CREDIT.

this article goes with the group pic up there w/ tiffany.
hehe, i guess the girls had to clear this up themselves...
i'm glad to see that they're voicing their opinions.
hopefully this will help ppl realize why they're doing what they did.

p.s. remember, comments make for good discussion! wink.gif

"We can dream about a debut in our exams (laugh)".

The 2008 College Scholastic Ability Test that SNSD members abandoned has attracted much attention.

Out of SNSD's 9 members, TaeYeon, HyoYeon, Yuri, Jessica, Tiffany, and Sunny made a total of 6 members from students born in 1989 that should've taken this year's entrance exams, but gave it up for promotion of their first album.

In a Star News interview, "A 7-year trainees' dream was to debut as a singer," and "Once as we debuted as singers, we wanted to do it with our best," they said.

SNSD, "Just because we didn't take the exams this year doesn't mean we won't go to university," and "Now our dream is to be singers, but in the future we may also want to study," they said.

"We hope that others in their 10s will realize their dreams, just as SNSD has a dream so that's why we put this off," and "Our current goal is to work harder."

Recently, SNSD's title song with the same name, "Girls' Generation" has had much activity.

a little bit of yes/no.

because school is overrated.

they just need to remember that when they're
done with their career, what are they going to do with the rest of their life?

they could go back to school.

their fame will come only once, but school will always be there.

the SNSD members have been training for their debut, some for even 7 years.
this has always been their dream, so i think its okay to let them follow it.

even singers in america do this frequently as well, and theyre fine later in life.
its very accepted, but since the SNSD members are younger, i think its wrong for the media to jump into conclusions saying that they are picking fame over education.

you should give credit to popseoul.

why can't they do both??

I mean can't SM hire them tutors or something like when they are on the road. Sm is well known
to be taking care of their artists, at least they could do is to secure SNSD's futures of being singers
and being well educated. Not only being a singer is respected but when they are going to school
and have finished something they are even more well respected by people.

I mean lets face it people who are in in the limelight are held in a different manner than those who aren't.
Parents, teachers and those who are adults will see them as a bad influence on the children.
[THIS IS NOT A BASHING FOR SNSD!!! ; all i'm voicing are the people who have authority and will not
like this]

Yeah they have been training a long time so they already must be an intermediate or the pro level
of being singers, all they lack is performance exp, but nonetheless they were training TO PERFORM
in front of people for a long time.

SM should educate these girls because talented artists and well educated ones are a force to be reckon
with in Korea. Mix the two and wow what a combination. [btw i'm not saying they are s2pid; ok ??? and pls don't bash me!]

i seriously agree with you, espeically your first paragraph. they are lots of stars that have tutors. i don't really know if they made a good choice though. can't really explain my reasoning. =D
why so serious? soompi is here for everyone's entertainment, not one group.

i don't think that they don't care about college.
it is just that they want to try their hardest at being the best that they can be as singers.

i think you got the wrong idea..
from what i interpreted from the article and the one from octieu2005, they are just
postponing their study for right now.
it doesnt mean that they wont have tutors..
they can still pursue their dream and studies
but what matter is how they do it..
they are probably very busy with the promotion
so they are not taking the exam
but they might next year, when their schedule wont clash with the exam
nothing is certain.
they can study now, or study later when they have time.
it's their dream and its their lives, let they decide it.
they probably know what's best for them.
i think all these girls had dreams to go to collecge along with their dream as a singer
when they were little...
we arent exactly in their situation, so it's a little hard for us to understand
the way the article word it seem like these girls are just a bunch of teenagers
who chose fame over education..
these articles will always be biased..
we dont exactly know what's going on...
so we just hope they make the best decision for them
whether go to school, quit school or postponing school...
it's up to them really

boa's a different situation. by the time it was time for college, she was already successful as a solo artist & having shares of the sm company.
with these girls, nothing's for sure in the future, especially in a girl group full of nine girls. we all know that girl groups don't last very long. they're bound to break up or go solo. they also just debuted. anyways, i will respect their wishes & hopefully they won't regret it. ;D which is weird though, if girls from wonder girls & kara can take the exam, who are super busy as well, why can't they? no need to answer that question. i was just curious.

Uh, PopSeoul always makes things look worse .
Those 6 chose their careeer because their first album promotions are right now and they said they trained for 7 years to become a singer, and they're not saying that they're not gonna study .
They said they plan to later on in their life .

...popseoul... >_>

Its not that they don't care. Theyre just putting the exams aside for now. Theyre living their dream...once in a lifetime chance, hello?
Besides, Remember SeoHyun in that one episode of GGTS? When she was talking about being a normal student? Its obvious she cares.
