Is It True That You Cannot Eat Under 1200 Calories?

But this equation said that I'm suppose to eat 1500 calories a day to maintain my weight, and to cut 500 calories to lose a pound a week. So if I eat 1000 calories a day, will my metabolism slow down?
Also Also, is it true that bananas to really starchy so a dieting person shouldn't really eat them?

Just eat healthy foods, no fried, and no skin from chicken, and NO trans fat.
Eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner all before 6PM. None of this "meals every 2-3 hours" crap, just eat 3 meals a day. Important thing is do not eat after 6PM (Unless you work swing shifts, or graveyard. Just don't eat 3 hours before you sleep.)
Think about this. If you don't eat enough through out the day to make you full, you'll certainly be more hungry at night, leading to eating late night snacks. That'll lead to you falling asleep with food not fully digested, then leading to a bigger tummy.
Don't hurt yourself when trying to lose weight.
I've followed this diet with NO exercise for the past 3 months and lost 14 pounds. I eat what I want, when I want, and I'm fully healthy. Exercise would've certainly accelerated my weight loss, but whatever I'm still young.

but i do know that if you try to starve 'cus of "diet" then
next food you eat (after like a day of starving), will make you gain weight, rather than losing it
this is 'cus when you are not eating, your body is trying to save all the energy
so the next food you eat, the body will store as much of fat as possible...making
you gain weight.
it's better to eat small snacks like apple or carrots
between meals, to keep your stomach full~

As long as you eat well and exercise, you'll be healthy. and THAT is more important than being skinny
Unless you're overweight, numbers will not determine your health.
so stop eating kimchi noodle crap, "health" bars, etc
and start eating whole grains, fruits (INCLUDING BANANAS), vegetables, etc

i guess it depends on how long you keep it up for. i ate way under 1200 a day for..4 months? and my metabolism didn't seem to slow down because i never gained any weight or stop losing weight. it's hard to lose weight if you're going to eat as much as 1000

I think someone my age is supposed to eat 2000 calories a day.
that's probably because you weren't eating enough calories for your body to store some as fat. All of the energy went towards..you know, keeping you alive

AGREE 100%
If you really want to be healthy (which will lead to losing weight), just eat less junk food, processed foods, etc. Our bodies are very good at telling us when we're full, just listen to your stomach heh. Don't stuff yourself when eating meals, at the same time, don't deprive yourself of food or calories (as long as it's HEALTHY food). Starving => your body storing fat. Also, don't try to lose weight super quickly either-- when you do that, your body loses muscle mass instead of fat.

1)if u eat under 1200 kcal a day it just means u aren't getting enough of your nutrients and minerals = your starving yourself to a slow suicide.
2)And your metabolism will slow down because your stomach isn't getting any foods to energize your body. Therefore your body will start storing the 1000 kcal into fat = gaining more weight.
3) a HEALTHY way to lose weight is to cut 500 kcal out of your everyday diet. to lose a SAFE pound a week. DO THIS SLOWLY for your body to get used to it. Because when you just shock your body it will start turning in the food you feed yourself into fat.
4) bananas happen to have a lot of kcal in them.
5) if u want to lose weight then cut 500kcal in ur diet and excersise
6) fyi. food that has a lot of fat then has a lot of kcal
if not, just exercise, it boosts your metabolism rate... and i think you are eating too little...
Seriously your BMI doesn't work, it just a glorifying thing that takes ur height and weight to calculate a number. Because your BMI does not measure your fat it just measures your weight when gravity is pushing down on your mass. Its not accurate into separating your body fat from your muscle mass.
There is more than one way to measure your BODY FAT : heres an efficient way using an instrument called the
"caliper" >> what is looks like http://www.chponline.com/moreinfo/Beta%20T...es/Caliper.jpeg
other ways : underwater weighing; air displacement; bioelectrical impendance; dual energy X-ray absorptiometry [DEXA]
