My friend has one (i forgot which brand) but it really sucks. We were trying to figure out how to get to my house and everytime we went out of the path it designated for us, it never rerouted! Anyways, i want one that reroutes

I have a few choices in mind
This one is the one I like the most but its lack of a lot of POIs turns me off but I think it's okay for this price. I want to test it out to see if it reroutes automatically.

Magellan 3100 for $148
3.5 inch screen
These are the things i like
* Sophisticated and simple - Bold, streamlined touch-screen buttons minimize steps to locate a destination for stress-free navigation* Turn-by-turn voice and visual guidance - Enter virtually any address or point of interest and get there quickly and safely
* Precision navigation - SiRFstarIII chipset and integrated multidirectional antennae offer superior GPS accuracy using the Wide Area Augmentation System [what does this even mean?]
* Graphical interactive maps - Maps and destinations for the 48 contiguous United States (Alaska or Hawaii not included) are built-in so you can travel the country and always know where you are and where you're going
* Birds eye 3D view - Clearly see your surroundings in 3D or 2D
* Rechargeable battery - Navigate while driving without plugging the cigarette lighter adapter in
* SmartDetour - Customize the settings to automatically route you around sudden slow freeway traffic
* Auto Re-route - Never miss a turn and quickly get back on track whenever you take a detour
* Auto night view - Adjusts color and contrast for easy night viewing
* QuickSpell™ - Easily enter addresses with unique auto-complete feature that even corrects spelling
* Complete mobility - Transfer to any vehicle with no installation
* 750 thousand points of interest (POI) - Easily find gas stations, restaurants, ATMs, airports, parks and more with smart location search by name, category and region
* Interactive POI icons - Touch an onscreen icon for a nearby destination; see phone number and get an instant route
* Customizable route method - Shortest time, shortest distance, least use or most use of freeways, avoid toll roads
* Route exclusion - Select streets and freeways to avoid so you can get there on the streets, roads and highways that you prefer

Magellan 4210 $299
4.3 inch screen

It's so much nicer looking but a lot pricer as well. It as everything the other one has except:

# Ultra-thin & stylish: The thinnest personal navigation device available combines style and functionality in a pocket-sized design.
# 4.3" wide WQVGA color touch screen: The large touch screen shows your position, Points of Interest, route, ETA and more on the interactive map [way bigger screen]
# AAA TourBook™: Built-in guide information gives you instant access to AAA approved and rated lodging and restaurants, recommended attractions, discount locations and roadside assistance.* [i AM getting AAA insurance but i don't think this is that necessary]
# 6 million Points of Interest: Pre-programmed POIs make it easy to find gas stations, restaurants, ATMs, coffee and more. Search by name or category near your position or near any city. [ a lot more]
# SiRFstarIII™: Integrated chipset provides the fastest GPS position acquisition in the industry.

TomTom One Third Edition GPS
3.5 inch screen
$150
It has traffic updates I think.
fast re route although I don't know if the magellan has that also =/
Tells you how long it takes to get there
can update online w/ new maps but I don't know if magellan also does that

I think garmin is too pricey for the lack of functions it has.

Mio C320 $150
4.3 "
Big screen!
I think it has everything except traffic but it does have mp3 player (useless imo)
Does it re route? It doesn't say =/

yea that's it :] ty!

I'd buy a TomTom.

But really, I'd buy an iPhone and use Google Maps on it. tongue.gif

My vote is for tomtom. Free map updates, downloadable voices & you can even record your own voice, download different icons on the map (for ex: if you had a chevy cobolt, you can download a chevy cobolt icon for yourself), and HelpME! Function which is On-star except its free.

Did i mention you can change and modify maps and then share them with other people so they can update their maps as well?
