I've always considered a naval piercing since I was in middle school. I'm in college now, and I still don't have one. I am seriously considering to get one now, but I just want details! How bad did it hurt? What are the cons of having one? Are there any problems that you deal with? How much did it cost? I'm fine with any random details you all have, so please, any comments are appreciated! Thanks

It hurts less than an ear piercing. As soon as the needle is out you feel nothing and even forget that you've had it done.

Mine was around $40, maybe a little bit more.

Go to a professional. They don't use numbing sprays because it's illegal or something. But it doesn't hurt that bad, apart from the 30 seconds you're being pierced.

It looks really nice with a bar in, but once you remove it it looks ugly and wrong. There's a big hole that really looks like it shouldn't be there, unlike ear piercings which look fine without earrings in.

Make sure your body is healthy when you get it, and disinfect it regularly. I cleaned mine well, but because I wasn't eating properly and keeping my body healthy at the time, my body rejected the piercing. Basically, the skin inside the ring slowly got thinner. It was always hurting, so, I had to take it out. It closed up within hours. My recommendations: get a bar, not a ring. cheaper is not better. eat well. clean often.

Once you got it pierced, you have to keep the ring in there forever. When I take the ring off to clean it, without the ring my navel looks ugly, because there's an extra hole on top of the navel.

You have to watch your weight, keep your stomach flat.

fat stomach + navel piercing = hideous.

Plenty of my friends have gotten it done, and they all told me it didn't hurt.
The only bad thing is that once you're pregnant, the hole "pops" ... o__o

two of my sisters have their belly button pierced. i think it gets infected easily so they use epson(sp?) salts to disinfect it and stuff.

I just got mine done 2 weeks ago. Basically, you can technically get your navel piercing anywhere around your navel but the most common ones I see is the standard (which is on top) and the inverse (which is on the bottom). I have a standard when I initially wanted an inverse but I'm going to go back after my standard has healed to also get an inverse.

As for the pain, barely hurt at all. It's kind of like a pinch, but don't think it's like one of those skin-pulling-twisting-vicious pinches. It's really not all that bad The only time I felt a SLIGHT bit amount of pain was when they pulled the needle through my navel and when they were slipping on the bar.

The cons to having a bell piercing is just kind of blah. You'll probably have to take it out if you get pregnant. You probably should stay in a healthy weight since "fat" girls + navel piercings = no-no. You'll also have this slight, round, dark scar right where you got your navel pierced at. A lot of people have told me that it would slightly resemble an acne scar It's also going to be sore for a while. I had to consistently remind myself to not put my seatbelt right over my navel, and one time I was in the shower and I accidently got my loofah and just scrubbed straight down right after my piercing. Was sore for a little bit but it didn't bleed but ahhhh.

I don't know what the piercing would look like without the barbell in it since I only had mine for less than a month. Once it kind of heals to me being able to take it out, I'll try to remember to take a picture of it and PM it to you? Haha.

Mine was only $40. I know places that only charge you $20 and others that might charge you for $80. Just ask around, do a little bit of research, local.com piercing places, and ask for their rates.

I don't have a picture of my piercing yet but it's swollen and stuff so I'll wait till later for that

I am a skinny girl, so I don't worry about my stomach getting fat. The only thing that is discouraging me is the ugly mark when the ring is not there. Is there going to be a mark forever? And is it true that the hole will enlarge and stretch if you become pregnant? Hmm.

i got mines done for like 35$, had it since like 7th grade but anyways it doesnt hurt at all, its just like percing your ears.

it doesnt hurt as much people say it does.
the clamp hurts like a mother though.

i got mine done for $60AUS .. which is a reasonable price in australia .. and here are some facts that my piercer gave me on a leaflet;

- ensure your hands are clean when ever you touch your piercing .. do NOT let others touch your piercing.

- the navel is one of the most sensitive areas to get a piercing .. regular cleaning & healthy eating habits are necessary to quicken the healing process.

- the navel jewellery (bar or ring) should not be taken out until at least 6weeks after the initial piercing.

- never use soap bars or body washes during the healing process as they can cause infections from the harsh, drying chemicals as well as causing soap build-up residues inside the piercing.

- be aware of knocks or bumps when playing sport.

.....ok there's more but these are just the major factors. And here's my belly piercing after the first couple weeks or so;;

So I guess it depends on how you can handle the pain & where you get it pierced.

i don't know how much mine cost. i think 40.

but when i got it done it hurt a lot..A lot of blood came out. (don't wear a white shirt. i did and my whole shirt was bloody.)
you can't sleep on your stomache which is hard and you have to break the habit.
if you do than it hurts even more.

You gotta clean it every day or it gets nasty gunk stuck.

Also (i got mine done Aug 20) don't lean against a table for awhile it hurts like a COW! OMO! and its going to be sore for couple of months. mine still is.
