Specifically, I'm talking about Rice University in Houston, TX. I did early decision, and my dad went to Rice. But my grades/GPA arent THAT great... like top 7%, and my SAT scores (reasoning and subjects both) really arent that great either. I have 2 considerable leadership positions though...
So my question is, does family members that went to the school help getting accepted? Help a lot? A little? If you could tell in specifically about Rice, that would help alot...

I've only heard that it helps with ivy leagues.
With tax-funded public schools, it probably doesn't matter.
Private schools probably look at it.
But honestly, I don't think they care, unless your family donated some large sum of money to them.
It depends on the school; maybe you can email and ask... Heh.
