I find myself eating snacks. junk food when i get stressed, usually when I'm studying for a major exam or writing a paper. I'm worried that this is what's causing me to gain weight slowly but surely.

Does anyone else have this problem? Whether you do or you don't, what are some suggestions to cope with stress? I just want to prevent myself from gaining any more weight.

Do you exercise regularly? What types of exercise and how many times a week do you do it?
Any other comments/suggestions would be helpful.

I don't eat when I'm stressed & that's just as bad.
I go to the gym at least 3 times a week and I have a trainer so he makes me do a lot of crap like bicycling hardcore.

I eat alot when I get angry.. then after I finish eating I go play some sport.
But I don't get angry too often..

thats not too good..not only will it make you gain weight, but it may cause you to break out..

especially if you're eating junk food..

i have this problem too, but i avoid junk food when i'm angry..

and to cope with stress, why not exercise?

i exercise but i only lift and entirely ignore my cardios.

your exercise should depend on what goals you have for your health/body.

Ahah I do that sometimes ^^;;

But lately I've switched to drinking instead of eating. Not drinking as in alcohol XD water, juice, etc. I drink tea the most *has really bad tea stains on teeth* but also guava juice. Try chewing gum- you probably eat to move your mouth, so chewing gum will move your mouth.... without having to eat? ^^;; It made sense in my head, at least, just not when it's typed out XD

I do exercise (martial arts yay~), but not nearly as often as I should ⌐.⌐ Partly too busy, mostly too lazy. Usually both?

omfg i had this problem BADLY. i ALWAYS ate. crackers. peanut butter. tiny cookies. fruit.
i gained 25 pounds in a year lol.
Over the summer i lost 15 of those pounds, and now i'm just really controlling myself. I don't have any snack food at my house--i make sure my mom doesn't buy them for me. When I feel a sudden urge to eat, I just sit back and do something else to distract me--read a book, exercise, jump around, etc.

Except I shouldn't be worrying about gaining weight, because im a little underweight.
but my metabolism is so slow. its not even funny.
but anyway, back to the topic
i eat as much as i want, but i run a couple miles a day, 5 days a week usually.

Actually I'm the opposite, I end up skipping meals and losing weight when I stress. Which is just as bad I guess =(

Well, when you're studying you're also using a lot of 'brain power' which would use up quite an amount of energy and therefore make you hungry. I find when I actually bother studying for a few hours I get pretty hungry. Even if I'm not really stressing.

If I'm studying for a long time, then eventually I will get hungry. I just try to balance it out by running every morning...

It felt so heavenly wicked; sinful in the most innocent of ways to
die for the sake of a final peace and calmness.

I don't eat when I'm stressed...i smoke and drink >.> which is a lot worse i guess. For some reason i just loose my appetite when im stressed and i sleep, a lot. But to relieve the stress i go snowboarding, and sometimes hit the spa and get pampered xD great way to relieve excess stress from school, parents, friends, etc. And oh, i don't exercise..>.<

Vitamin B combats stress--get a Vitamin B complex from your local vitamin store or online (I recommend vitacost.com). When you're stressed, your body depletes its Vitamin B resevoir, which is why your skin, nails, and hair look so much worse (since vitamin B helps to recover these aspects), and why you're so tired (B helps with metabolism, meaning more energy and greater calorie consumption =]). Hope that helps! When I was really stressed, taking B supplements helped me a lot.
