sorry to be the bearer of bad news..especially to those ppl who take multi-vitamins like a religion.
but i read an article a month ago that taking too much vitamins can be harmful to your health.
like, really harmful.
the source of the information was from a dependable one, reader's digest, and here's a link
for you guys who want a more in-depth information on it.
http://www.thatsfit.com/2007/11/05/the-vit...-shouldnt-take/
anyways, i'm not trying to scare you guys, and i'm pretty sure the serious side effects don't kick
in, unless you've been replacing multi-vitamins for your meals for three years straight.
i used to take multi-vitamins two to three times a day..but now i cut it down to every other day.
well, hope this article helped you guys.

Well, too much of anything is harmful. Even too much water is bad. I think the body only needs a certain amount of different types of vitamins and such. Too much and it'll start building up and become something not so good.

Everything in moderation.
I watched this video, BBC Horizon's Truth About Vitamins about the "Vitamin Trend" going around. It shows a study that people who smokes and consumes Vitamin A is more prone to get lung cancer that those who don't. Your body can only keep so-amount of minerals and vitamins for you body, the rest of them just goes to your urine =/.
Personally, I think popping 8 vitamin pills a day is helpless. The only pill that females need to consume is probably iron, and that's only when you eat one pill a day or bi-daily.

lol...
does anyone find the wording funny? we all die eventually...
...imo, i think that article's kind of...stupid? some of the "facts" are either worded wrongly or just plain wrong...(ie folic acid is needed before AND during a pregnancy.)
and it's not saying you need to stop taking multivitamins...because it gives you enough or less than you need (less because people with a normal diet can attain certain vitamins just by eating...and some are made naturally by the body).
i think this is kind of stupid as well:
-contradiction...but i suppose the other 97% should depend on supplements if they dont plan on making any huge changes to their diet.
also, as long as you're taking the recommended doses, you should be fine. if you feel that you eat pretty healthy, then maybe you can do with taking less to none. It's called "supplements" for a reason.

Taking antioxidant vitamins increases a person's risk of dying by 16%.

people should stop depending on supplements and instead get their vitamins from a balanced diet consisting of real food (rather than processed). The problem: Only 3 percent of us actually eat that well, so it's much easier said than done ... and supplements can be a good option if you're not getting what you need from your diet.
