Bring up Start Menu
Choose "Run"
Type 'cmd' (but with no quotes) into box
Click OK
When "DOS prompt" window opens, type in
ipconfig \all
press Enter
Cut and paste everything you then see in that window and paste it into a thread reply so we can see it.

(To copy from such a window, highlight text in normal way, then right-click on top left window corner, choose Edit from the dropdown menu, then select "copy" from the slideout menu)

Ooops, sorry yes. My secret life as a *nix hacker slipped out. I only mess with this Windows stuff because the whole of Korea is irrationally in love with Microsoft proprietary technologies. So no Windows, no Korean sites, sad to say.

Just take a screenshot of it and post the JPG via ImageShack or something. You can also just try ipconfig /renew and ipconfig /release. The reason for this is that while you may be connected locally (hence the green DSL light), your computer may not have been assigned an IP by the DHCP controller...

or Windows may have used its braindead "automatic LAN configuration" to assign you an address at boot time instead of getting one from DHCP. That's why we need to see (from the output) what the actual address is that you've been assigned. If you have been given a Windows supplied IP address at boot time, then ipconfig /renew or /release will give you an error message saying the interface already has an auto-assigned address which can't be changed. If you have been given no address at all, it will be given as 0.0.0.0. But show us what you get and we'll know more.

Any luck yet?

Try clearing the cookies and cache of your internet explorer/firefox to see if it works after that.

Is your computer connected directly to the modem or do you have a router? (just curious because your DNS suprisingly shows the internet service provider name while your IP shows a local one (like with a router) )

=O could it be an evil firewall acting up?

Close any browsers you have open, type ipconfig /flushdns and see if that does anything for you.

If not, you could also try setting your DNS to the same IP as your gateway (router) and let your router sort things out for you. Go to Start > Settings > Network Connections. Right-click on Local Area Connection and select Properties. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on Properties. Click on Use the following DNS server addresses and type in 192.168.1.1 as your DNS server IP. Click OK then the Close button. You may or may not have to do the ipconfig /flushdns command again.

first thing is to check your isp's network status. if it is working find then before troubleshooting it you should direct connect to the modem to see if it works that way. if it works then the router may be misconfigured. i would reset the router.

there also ipconfig /release all
ipconfig /renew

first thing is to check network status of isp. no use trying to troubleshoot if it is on the isp side.

For you, I'd recommend downloading this link. http://cable-dsl.home.att.net/files/W2KWXPDNSfix.reg Right-click it then Save As a file on your computer. Then double-click it and when it asks you whether you want to add the info to your registry, say yes. You can then delete this file. Close then reopen your browser then go test your sites again.

This file basically adds 3 entries into your registry to turn off negative DNS caching. There is no downside to this trick.
