I can't get over the fact Byakuya's zanpakuto is so ugly. It's my favorite one! I imagine it to look as beautiful as Rukia's or something.

Anyways Byakuya really pushed the limit this episode. I hope Sode no Shirayuki isn't gone for good. She's gorgeous :/ and Rukia would be pretty much done for without it T_T

That's cause he doesn't have one, nor even a shikai. Some say it's already in shikai form but I highly doubt it since it was made clear his zanpakutou doesn't want anything to do with Kenpachi since Ken's never bothered to find out his zanpakutou's name. So basically his zanpakutou is "dormant" and won't lend its power to Kenpachi.


It'd be interesting to see if they show his zanpakutou in this filler arc. Would be nice to see what he can do.

I'm pretty sure she knew but she was just asking "Is this REALLY my zanpakutou?" since her zanpakutou was acting like a total brat. Like really, you wouldn't think someone as anal as Soifon would have a zanpakutou like that

Ichigo's Getsuga Tenshou is getting so old. Does his sword really not do anything besides that? And is it me or is the drawing in this episode totally creepy. Kurotsuchi's and Kira's zanpakutou gave me the total creeps and Yumichika's face looked not it's pretty self lol.

I don't get how some can use their zanpakutou's power and others can't. Like how Byakuya was fighting Ichigo he couldn't use his shikai, and now that he's fighting Ken-chan, he can use it

Unfortunately this is a filler arc, so they'll both be ok after their fight. I'm guessing someone's going to interfere and Byakuya escapes.

But the zanpakutou manifestations that we are seeing in the filler aren't cannon. I think it was even addressed in one of the episodes that they are just human forms of the zanpakutous, not the actual souls of the zanpakutou. For example, we know from the manga that Renji's zanpakutou takes in the form of a white ape-like creature with a snake as its tail. But in the manga, it's totally different. And Hitsugaya's takes form as an ice dragon with wings. Soifon's actual zanpakutou could be some scary looking wasp-thing.
