I'm planning on buying a new digital camera. Any recommendations?

Nothing that's ultra slim, because I've noticed that ultra slim cameras' pictures come out really noisy.

I'm also really picky about picture quality. I understand I can get only so much for under 300 (my price range!), but still!! T__T

I also really want a wide angle lens. I'm going to Europe this summer and I do not want to take a picture of some castle and have half of the castle chopped off in the picture. And so...that narrows down my choices to about FOUR cameras. T____T

not sure if it fits your budget, but the canon sd800 would be a great choice for your needs.

Hi! First time posting ever on soompi although I've been a member for a few months.

Nikon 24-85
Sigma 70-200 2.8 <--- nice optics shame about the rest of it...
Nikon 12-24 DX 4.0
Nikon 105 DX Fisheye 2.8
Nikon 17-55 DX 2.8
Nikon 24-120 VR <--- lent to a friend at the mo, i don't like it
Nikon 50 1.4

I only made the mistake of buying Sigma once, but the Nikon 70-200 is kinda expensive so can't afford it at the mo.

Yep, actually the big reason is so I can use two lenses whilst shooting without having to switch the lens on the camera. Say I want to use the 17-55 and the 50 at the same time, one lens goes on each D200. Of course if one did break i'd be somewhat irritated but I can keep on taking piccies.

you'd be surprised how many pros and serious hobbyists have duplicate or even more copies of the same camera (and lens)

I think they also have different cameras for different situations (like the best camera for night, etc.)

Does me for now although I wouldn't mind a digital SLR as photography is kind of growing on me.

i used to have a sony dsc-s40 but it really sucks. so i recently bought a sony cybershot w-50 and it's so cool. i love all the features.

I have the Sonny Cybershot W100. I just got it for xmas. I love it! It takes GREAT pictures. 8 megapixels and when I print them out on my photo printer, they are excellent quality. I have it in black.

I got myself a Canon Sd630, real candy and I got it at a good price 350$ flat (canadian $) tax+2 years warranty included.. where as normally it's 380$ plustax, plus around 80$ for the warranty...

And I got the SD mem card of 2Gig for free

YUPPP. i also got a Canon SD630. i got it for my birthday in August. takes the best pics ever plus lots of features. Canon makes great cameras. the 3 inch screen is PIMP.
