How is that sad? He's turning 22 soon so I can understand why he doesn't want to date teenagers. My brother is a year younger than him and my brother won't date teenagers either.

So erm, since I'm capped, I've kind of strayed a little bit from the internet. !what do I do in my spare time? Read The Host, of course!
I was originally going to put off reading it for a while, what with my Uni work and all, but I've put together some free time so I decided to finish it ASAP. I've just finished it, and spoilers below.
The first few chapters are quite good - very descriptive. Though I feel as though that descriptive writing kind of faded during the book.
Anyway.
The story is of a species - Souls. The only way these Souls can survive is through host bodies - or cryotanks, but yeah. The main character is Wanderer, a Soul. At the beginning of the book, she is put into a host body - a human named Melanie.
As the book progresses, we find out that Melanie is very strong and is forcing memories upon Wanderer. I won't give details, but Earth is basically inhabited by Souls - there are pretty much no humans left (to their knowledge, anyway). But there is the group of humans in hiding. Resistance fighters, you could call them. xD Anyway, they know what happens when Souls find them and basically decided to go into hiding.
So, Melanie is forcing these memories upon Wanderer, most of them about Jared, her love and Jamie, her little brother. These memories make Wanderer feel the same way Melanie feels - love. Love for Jared and love for Jamie. She soon decides to go out and find them, with Melanie's memories as a guide.
She does find them, but I'll leave it at that.

What I think of it overall.
The book is... interesting in it's own way. I like the story that Stephenie has developed. It's a lot more detailed than Twilight, a lot more depth.
Having said that, the book is very mono tonal. I keep reading, and I keep expecting something big to happen. To my disappointment, it doesn't. The story unfolds quite nicely, I guess. I thought the ending was horrible though. It was a happy ending, but I just thought it could've been so much better.

The main flaw with this book is that the main character is basically a... worm? You do not feel for it as you would with someone like Bella. The whole book follows Wanderer, her emotions. She feels everything a human would feel, because she's attached to a human. There are romantically powerful scenes in the book between Wanderer/Melanie and someone else, but you kind of just read it without any feelings of your own. Cause I just keep imagining the Soul inside the host body. I don't know. That could well just be me, though.

There are 3 characters readers will warm to, though. That is Jared, Jamie and Ian. Though I kind of foresee a Team Jared/Team Ian thing, now. xD

If I would have to give it a rating out of 10?
6, perhaps? 7 at the most.

Oh, and the names in this book are just hilarious. Not the human ones, the other ones. They're so ridiculous. xD
