Got a 3d Gen 32GB a few weeks back.

My sister jailbroke it for me using blackrain.

My question is....now what? LOL

I downloaded a game and doubled clicked on the .ipa and it automatically went into my itunes. So I guess that's all I need to do for apps and games. Just download ipas and click em.

I also got Winterboard off cydia and changed my background.

I have a few questions/ things I'm looking for:

1) How do I rename my apps?
2) I changed my background, but how do I make the background different from the wallpaper? winterboard stuff?
3) What other cooler stuff can I do? To change my themes - do I just download them off cydia and install them?

1) i don't think you can rename it.
2) yes you use winterboard, just check the different things(I cannot tell you specifically on what to do because I'm not sure either.
3) Cool stuff, you can get paid apps for free since you already jailbroken yours. Apps that I own and love are the following:
-Glow Hockey(lols)
-Sex Jokes(You won't be disappointed)
-Air Mouse
-Dropbox(this is free)

Seriously though, what I do is just go around the app store, then check whats good and download the paid version of it. I think your sister has already installed it but you need Appsync for cracked / downloaded apps to work. Let me know and I'll give you the source for it because I'm not using my iPhone atm.

Does anyone know how to hack an Ipod Touch using blackrain & cydia?
I know how to download blackrain & get cydia onto my ipod touch but after that, i have no idea what to do.

I used cydia, winterboard and literally about 20 other apps. I've been tampering XP & Vista themes since I was about 11 and I have to say, although it's time consuming customizing, iPod Touches are as easy as hell to customize. I have a second gen with 3.0 firmware by the way.

lovelyLily: Icons have to be manually changed. You can google SSH tutorials so that you can use the WinSCP program to go into your ipod on your computer and change all your files that way. Then you just have to manually replace the icon pics.

You should be able to just fine. I've never had a problem with my iTouch not connecting.

Well, kind of. When it doesn't connect after I plug it in, I just press the button on the top left and unlock my screen. For some reason, you have to get into your iPod to get it to connect sometimes.

For those of you who haven't figured out yet:

Installous recently had a HUUUUUUUGEEE upgrade.
They use like a totally different thing that runs SO MUCH faster and you can now get a better chance at getting the apps!

Before, It wouldn't let me get Where's Waldo and Tetris.. but now I have both of those!

Does anybody know of a program that will help me save my songs? My friend said he can jailbreak it but the stuff will get deleted and I have a lot of songs on the iTouch that I don't have on the computer. Can somebody please tell me if they know?

i got an ipod touch, 3rd g, like a month ago ? & so today my bro helped me jailbreak it. but he told me since jailbreak 3rd g didnt come out yet, the one he used had some faults. such as, you can only turn it on using da computer. so if ur in public & you wanna turn it on & you have no computer, tough luck. i noticed it got pretty laggy, including the internet & when typing.

for anyone who has a 3rd generation ipod touch & jailbreaked it, did it come out successfully instead of like mines ?

I could be wrong, but I don't think jailbreaking applies to the generation, it should only apply to the firmware.

You might have 3.1.2 firmware with the new iTouch. Go into Settings>General>About and see what your version you're. 3.0+ is recommended. Your brother might have jailbreak with an older firmware such as 2.2.1.

lilkuti, don't do it. They say that the 3rd gen ipods are harder to jailbreak because of the security it has.

If you apply a 2nd gen fix n your ipod you will most likely brick it so I guess just wait for them to come up with a solution.

Although touches aren't firmware specific(f/e you can use the 2nd gen firmware on your 3rd gen or 1st), since the hack isn't out for the 3rd gen yet, it might break =[

I also have 3.1.2 firmware on my ipod, & my brother jailbroke it for me 2 months ago. I never have any problems with my ipod as long as i don't turn it off (as opposed to just putting it on sleep). If i DO turn it off, I just have to run blackrain & it's all good. If it DOES brick for some reason, i can just restore it.

You can't jailbreak 3.1.3 yet. You'll have to downgrade to 3.1.2.

I accidentally upgraded and had to downgrade. Now I can't sync my apps or else my iTouch won't work properly. It's annoying. A lot of people are having issues with this too.

Hi, I recently jailbroke my iPod Touch 2G 2.2.1 using the quickfreedom.com thing and everytime I try to get anything from Cydia (like apps or backgrounds) it gives me "Error: Prepare Archives Method http has died unexpectedly! Method /usr/lib/apt/methods/http did not start correctly." I'm new at this so it could be a simple problem but i'm too noob to know what to do . Help please?
