i pay as much attention the lyrics of the song
and then the rhythm and other parts of a song
butmainly the lyrics
if I like it, i love the song
if I don't, then no more listening

i tend to listen to music when i'm bored....and hear it if i'm just like..singing it.

i tend to subconsciously 'listen' to cantonese and mandarin music..probably cuz i actually understand it..but i dont 'listen' to english music...weird....

The only times I really get to "Listen" to music is when Im either sitting down, or lying in my bed & not doing anything. In short, when Im relaxing. If Im doing something, Im most likely listening....and going along with the beat...hehe smile.gif

Sad though...I stopped listening (or even "hearing") any english music 3 years ago...I cant relate to english music anymore no matter how hard I try to "listen" to it. sad.gif

YES YES YES..i listen to music..from my soul, mind and heart. I love music..i listent to instrumentals because i can hear the composition of the song..and i also listen to the drums and bass instruments that make up the song..however, that's if i like the song but i wouldn't listen to songs i dont like..i have a lot of songs that i dont listen to on my computer and that's cuz i've listened to them once and they dont have good rythm or beats. I pay special attention to music.

I think I always listen, I'm really into music and singing myself, so the listening switch is always on...excluding maybe elevator music (lol)

but after a while..i start to hear it..and soon..i pretty much ignore it..=T that's why i need new songs..@_@

I usually hear it as I am doing other stuff, but if it is really good then I'll stop and really listen, the melody and most importantly - the lyrics.

sometimes I 'hear' is and sometimes I 'listen' to it. Depends on the song, if I really like it...I'd 'listen' to it.

its half half for me. i usually turn on the radio station whenever im doing my hmwk.. there are times when the song is so catchy or the lyrics interest me that i just stop what im doing and listen to it.
then there are those other times when i just hear the song.

i like to think i listen to music.
i reckon people trained in music like i was (as in played an instrument for years) learn to appreciate on a higher level the melody, the role of the instruments and vocals, and how everything fits together. you learn how to appreciate a wider range of genres. even though i don't agree with most of the misogynist lyrics in Western hip/hop, i can still appreciate the beat and rhythm of the vocals.

i've also been listening to korean (kpop)and japanese (jpop and jrock) music for years, although i don't really understand either language. not focusing on the lyrics has taught me to pay greater attention to all the other nuances you'd normally just "hear". e.g. toshiya of dir en grey's excellent bass in their earlier days got me looking out for good bass in most songs now.

I use to just listen to the song & know the words..
But nowadays I listen & listen closely to the lyrics
Like ermm, i.e. Eminem rap songs, I get what he's saying now + stuff lol

If the beat/tune is nice itself, then I will listen to the song.

upon first listen, i only concentrate on the beat, and tune of the music which is a really bad habit of mine. Songs that have that catchy addictive beat are only addictive through the first few times the song is played. afterwards, it's just annoying.

I find that it's usually the ballads that i don't pay much attention to, that ends up being my favorites due to the lyrics.

A song can take you back instantly to a moment, a place or even a person.
No matter what else has changed in you or the world, that one song stays the same, just like that moment.
