foobar2000. probably the best. ultimate customization. lowest cpu usage. supports virtually every format.

^ Seconded. Low CPU output makes it easier to navigate through many performance-oriented programs and games. Also, the interface isn't too bad, with minor tweaks of course.

Media Player Classic for some of the more elite formats, else VLC. They play everything.
For basic mp3, I use Real (Free version). But the above mentioned ones are really good.

Itunes - Cover Flow and search functions are great.
Used to use Winamp but got tired of constantly having to load up playlists one at time only (this was back in the day though)
NEVER liked Windows Media Player though, along with its WMA format, although supposedly it encodes better than most other mp3 converters.

i'm using mediamonkey...which doesn't look very popular here. i love it, it definitely beats WMP, Winamp and Itunes. i think the dealbreaker was the fact that my laptop buttons worked with the player, unlike itunes and i think winamp, i forget.

I have posted here a long time ago on my previous account. My media player changed like I changed my ID smile.gif

I use GOMaudio now only because I do not need a playlist-program like Foobar2000. I play everything on my precious MP3 player (cowon D2) biggrin.gif

I used to use Window Media Player, which drove me insane with the loading and it froze many times. Then I tried using Winamp, but after a while, I had to delete it to make some space for my computer. After I got my i-pod, I now officially use Itunes to listen to music. In my opinion, it's the best program for listening, keep track of my music. The loading isn't as bad either :')

I third on Media Monkey- it's the de facto app to use if you wanna get insanely beyond obsessive compulsive with your music organization (tagging, sorting, renaming, the works). It's also fully compatible with alot of major portable audio players like the ipod, so there's no excuse to continually use itunes unless you want the simplicity. ph34r.gif

But I'm gonna take some of the recomms for Gom Audio. I always wanted a function that finds and displays lyrics, so it should be interesting. Thanks. biggrin.gif

iTunes!
I started ~really~ listening to music in the fifth grade and that's when I got my iBook so I just used whatever was on my computer and I'm most comfortable with iTunes. plus, it's perfect for my iPod smile.gif

i went through all 14 pages and i couldn't find a player i liked. damn. I just want a small square (like WMP) except it displays all information in text (track name, kbps, album) and a little cover art, all in a small box. Does media monkey, gom audio, do this?
