i hope someone can really help me out with this...
it might be long to read but pleasee if anyone can help..
the story:
ok so everything was fine with my computer, until last weekend...
i was downloading gossip girl (with torrents)...and finished downloading it..
everything was fine, until i started watching... my computer started to freeze up and watching gossip girl was getting kinda hard.. and all of a sudden these POPUPs were popping up =x like 20 pages of popups and the popups download weird stuff by itself...i was like ok.. and then just deleted them but then they would come back and make everything slow so i thought maybe i downloaded a virus when downloading gossip girl? i dont know so i decided to delete gossip girl.. i thought the problem would stop, but it didnt after i deleted gossip girl and restarted my computer, my computer wouldnt start.it would but it would give me the option of starting regular windows or safe mode windows.. and then i would just start regular windows but then it would go back to the page with the options and my computer would restart like that, so then i decided to reformat my computer... and so i reformatted my computer.. and i thought everything was fine...it was fine for like 5 minutes and then when i connected to the internet the POPUPS came back!!! so i thought i reformatted my computer wrong, so i did like 3 more times, didnt help...
and then i was like.. ok this computer is pretty old, i can deal with popups ill just close them as they come up, but then i wanted to listen to some music, but i had no sound.. and i know its common for the sound to disappear when you reformat so i went to the realtek site to download audio.. and it would download for about 3 minutes? and then my internet would just disconnect...so that didnt work.. so now im just really frustrated and i have no idea what to do..and my computer is SLOWER than ever!!!
my internet is prolly going to disconnect itself really soon, so yeah.. thats my story..
does anyone know what is wrong?!?!
if ANYONE can help pleaseee help~~~
do you think its my internet? like the server?
i would really appreciate it! please and thank you!!!

600 million children live in absolute poverty. 30,000 children die each day due to poverty
Number of children in the world: 2.2 billion. Number in poverty: 1 billion (every second child)
400 million children, one in five, have no access to safe water. Meanwhile, unsafe water and sanitation cause about 4,000 child deaths per day. Every year more than 10 million children die of hunger and preventable diseases - that's over 30,000 per day and one every 3 seconds.

After you format your hard drive and reinstall windows nothing should remain... like viruses spyware they should all be gone. BTW it sounded like you had spyware with all those fun popups.
Okay, when you reinstalled windows did you erase everything or did you keep your data?
After you installed windows did you install any other programs? Lets say the program you used for downloading that episode of gossip girls... did you install that program back?

Thats really strange because after you format it shouldn't give you any remaining spyware. The other drives normally won't give you any issues unless it has a virus or something... do you have an antivirus? Do a scan if you can.
They told you to unhook the modem because its windows.
If you have a old version of windows like before Service pack 1, you can do a clean install, plug it into the internet and within a short period of time, the computer will be loaded with viruses.
you don't even need to click anything!
There are a lot of security holes in windows and it NEEDS the patches to avoid getting exploited.
If you don't feel like doing any more formats, just go and do some windows updates and scan with an antivirus/antispyware. I hope you have a router or you enabled the windows firewall for a bit of protection.

its all just weird, so frustrating, i get popups when im not even connected to the internet, except they dont open cause im not connecting but still very annoying, when im just sitting here waiting for the computer to load and all of a sudden i get popups!
i keep getting errors now~
and my computer has started restarting by itself...im can be connected to the internet for more than 20 minutes now... maybe like 40 minutes? enough to get things done at least...
i have windows service pack2
i had the windows firewall enabled before reformatting, but now after formatting it wont let me enable it.
it sucks everything just sucks =x
by the way thank you soo much for trying to help me!!!
i really appreciate it!!!

i would say to reboot your whole computer not just the c drive .
what i usually do is during the startup screen , hold ctrl and tap f11.
it should direct you to system reboot
then after the systems are functionally working,
i advice you to put a reliable anti virus software like mcafee.
for the sound, try control panel.
if it still doesn`t work , reinstall it agian.
if you have dell, contact their company.
their really good and they will guide you step by step on how to do stuff if your still confused.

I dont think that button combination would work unless they have a dell... but I think even if they did, they erased it already (which is why its like multi partitions)
Have you tried to scan with adaware and a good antivirus yet?
When you're offline and you still see those that means you probably have lots of spyware. You might have to start in safe mode to do a full scan and delete the spyware/antiviruses. We can work on the sound later =\
