Can anyone suggest a digital slr
that isn`t really expensive and works well?
also I want a light one
its doesn`t have to be fancy
just a decent one is fine with me.

1. canon rebel xti (or it's older model the rebel xt)
2. nikon d40x
3. pentax K100D
for what it's worth... the xt should be the cheapest of them all and best bang for buck (should cost you ~$500 for camera body, kit lens and flash card)

i use XT for photography. so i can assure you that it's not bad at all, and it's one of the cheapest ones out there.

Well I just bought my GF a Nikon D40x... seems like a decent camera around and to be honest, I bought it because of my bias with Nikon.

buy the upgraded version (xti) instead of the xt.
xti price has gone down a little.
the camera is pretty small compared to other dslr's
