I hv a WD HD 120GB in a casing which i came separately. it connects to my laptop via the USB cable and a firewire port on the casing side. My computer will locate the disk but when i try to click on the drive it comes up. Disk not formatted do u want to format. When i click yes, it continues all the way to 100% then says that Windows unable to complete format.
Can anyone help plse?

Does it plug into a AC adapter? If its one of those smaller ones it might not be getting enough power from the USB ports (though the firewire should cover the power demands)
Otherwise, do you know if the drive was working right before? I have a few drives that are just dead and when I try to format it will take forever and give me the Unable to complete format error.
Its also possible the adapter thing is dead. So basically im pointing to power or something is broken.

seems it was working at the store. the guy tested it out for the fren who bought it for me. then i tried to partition it into 30GB partitions and formatted fat32 ok. but not ntfs. gaagh but the files dun transfer properly when i try to save onto it.
looks like i'l hv to send it back. didn't come w/ an AC adapter.
