Hear that? It's the sound of Joss Whedon fans around the world freaking the frak out. (And I am one of them!)
I'm thrilled to tell you that just this afternoon, Joss Whedon rang me up to break the news that after a long, Whedonless TV drought, we Buffy fans are finally getting another TV series created by Mr. Whedon himself. Hell. Yeah.
While you scream, hyperventilate and then (hopefully) recover, I will tell you this: The news gets even better.
Whedon's new Fox series, called Dollhouse, stars Miss Eliza Dushku, best known as Faith to you Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans. And this show isn't just a pilot. It's already been given a seven-episode commitment by Fox. Woo!
Here's how Fox describes the series:
So, how did Dollhouse come about? When will it start, given the impending strike? And what are the chances a few Buffy alums might make it onto the show? To find out, read on for my exclusive one-on-one Q&As with creator and executive producer Joss Whedon and star and producer Eliza Dushku. (Pinch me.) You honestly won't believe how fast this all happened, or where the idea first began!
Oh, and P.S. to all you fans of writer/producer Tim Minear (Angel, Wonderfalls, Firefly, Drive). He tells us: "Joss has pathetically begged me to be involved. And I hate to see a slightly younger man weep like a girl. So I said, 'm'kay.' I'll be playing with dolls one way or t'other."
This might be too much goodness to bear, no?!

BIO/CAST
Eliza Dushku as Echo: Echo is the star Active, or doll, in the Dollhouse's cast of imprint-able friends, lovers, assassins - whatever the client calls for. Echo excels at pleasing clients because she's able to adapt fully, or perhaps beyond, each imprint. Echo is a special doll, but in the Dollhouse, special is dangerous.

Olivia Williams as Adelle: Adelle DeWitt is the highest authority at the Dollhouse, answering only to its parent company. Adelle is a company woman who prefers to keep the Dollhouse running like the business it is, but also a visionary who firmly believes that all involved benefit from the service they provide.

Tahmoh Penikett as Paul: Paul Ballard is an FBI agent assigned to the dead-end case designate "Dollhouse." He believes the Dollhouse is a secret and powerful human trafficking operation. Everyone else at the FBI and otherwise believes it's an urban legend. But the ridicule only feeds Paul's obsession with the Dollhouse and it's occupants. Specifically, one occupant - Echo, whom he believes in her former life to have been a girl named Caroline.

Fran Kranz as Topher: Topher Brink is a precocious scientist at the Dollhouse whose talents exceed his morals. He designs and operates the technology used by the Dollhouse, which he does with unreserved glee. Topher's awareness of his own flaws, and everyone else's, make him the ideal architect to build the perfect personality for any job.

Dichen Lachman as Sierra: Sierra is the newest Active, or doll, to join the Dollhouse. We know nothing about her previous life, but her otherworldly looks and ability to adapt quickly have made her an instant asset to the Dollhouse.

Enver Gjokaj as Lubov: Lubov is the most recent addition to the Borodin family, a Russian mob that runs a large human trafficking ring on the FBI's radar. It's unclear whether the ring has any connection to the Dollhouse, but Paul Ballard is certainly interested in finding out.

Harry Lennix as Boyd: Boyd Langton is a Handler at the Dollhouse assigned to Echo. With his gruff attitude and unswerving loyalty, Boyd is the beat cop of the Dollhouse. The only question is, where does his loyalty land if Echo needs protection from the Dollhouse - or vice versa?
SUMMARY
ECHO (Dushku) is an "Active," a member of a highly illegal and underground group who have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas. Confined to a secret facility known as the "Dollhouse," Echo and the other Actives including SIERRA (Dichen Lachman, "Neighbours") and VICTOR (Enver Gjokaj, "The Unit") carry out engagements assigned by ADELLE (Olivia Williams, "X-Men: The Last Stand," "Rushmore"), one of the Dollhouse leaders. The engagements cater to the wealthy, powerful and connected, and require the Actives to immerse themselves in all manner of scenarios - romantic, criminal, uplifting, dangerous, comical and the occasional "pro bono" good deed.
After each scenario, Echo, always under the watchful eye of her handler BOYD (Harry Lennix, "Commander in Chief," 24), returns to the mysterious Dollhouse where her thoughts, feelings and experiences are erased by TOPHER (Fran Kranz, "Welcome to the Captain"), the Dollhouse's genius programmer. Echo enters the next scenario with no memory of before. Or does she?
As the series progresses, FBI Agent PAUL SMITH (Tahmoh Penikett, "Battlestar Galactica") pieces together clues that lead him closer to the Dollhouse, while Echo stops forgetting, her memories begin to return and she slowly pieces together her mysterious past.
