Hmm... I really don't know how to answer you. But, I'll try.

Transfer in college? It depends on the school that you want to get into. You might have to take classes according to their curriculum. Do you get what I mean? And trust me, there are often a lot of transfers around. Not everyone like the college that they're attending.

Study abroad? The best year is your Junior year. See, your freshman and sophomore years, you would like to finish up your gen. eds. first (gen. ed. = general education = which is the required classes that you have to take at the university you're attending). By the time you graduate, or your senior year, it is required that it is "residential", meaning you have to be living where you are attending the university (not meaning that you have to live on campus, just living arond there and attending school there). With that in mind, you can't study abroad your senior year if you're planning to graduate that year.

Thus, that leaves to your Junior year, being the only option opened for studying abroad. People work out their years differently. You just have to see what works best for you. What I'm telling you is just "reccommended."

Amazing story to share? Absolutely. I've found four of my best girlfriends here in college that I would never trade the world for. Everyone is unique; there's no time for quick judgments in college. Cliques are hated here. (At least at my school anyways.) And what's best? You learn something new everyday. =)

Enjoy your senior year. College will rock your life. (PSST. And it's okay not to get into the college that you wanted. As long as you're still in college and working hard towards your goals, that's all that counts. OH YEAH, and of course you have to study. Whoever said college was easy? LOLS.)

I've known of people who were scholarly during high school and things changed and they could barely keep up with classes and had to end up dropping two of the four they had. So it really just depend on the person. College is just like high school, and can be a breeze if you know your priorities and how to manage your life. You can transfer when you're a junior, I know a couple of people who is doing that. As long as you meet the requirement for transfering into the school you want, there shouldn't be a problem with you transfering in as a junior. But make sure to read all the little details because for certain classes, you might have to take it at that particular school for it to count toward your degree. So don't think it's impossible to transfer. Improving or not depends on whether you want to or not. Good luck!

About the study abroad thing, the same thing apply. The schools sets their requirements and you submit applications and find out if you've been accepted or not. A lot of colleges partner up with schools abroad so you should check out all the information if your school have an International Studies Program, then you should head over there and ask.

Well... let's start with this. If the school you want to go to is highly competitive (i.e. USC, UCLA, UC Berkeley, NYU, BC, Tufts, U.mich etc), i'll let in a little secret. It's not hard to get into college as a transfer. The only reason I think it's competitive in high school is because there are so many applicants. I've seen people getting into UCLA with mere 3.0's directly from a JC. Im not saying you should coast through and expect things to come easily, but if you really know where you want to go, and you really are willing to work hard (and do whatever it takes for you to get what you want), then i'd be on the same side and have at least a 3.4 when you apply (you shouldnt have any problem getting into most competitive colleges).

Now.... if you are talking about schools like MIT, Cal Tech, or Northwestern... it may be a little tougher (i wouldnt apply with no less than a 3.6).

Sorry i can't tell you any amazing stories about improvement... but as for myself, in high school i used to be a B student. in college I am still a B student. and my prospective for my graduate school life is to be a B student. so yeah.... at least im consistent.

Something happened that was really amazing: The introduction of the curve. Oh, how I love/hate the curve. In some classes, you can get below a 50% and still get a B. Yes. So very possible. And then in some classes, when your class average is freaky high (like my Pharmacology course)... you just die. ToT! Don't let the curve rape you!
I stopped believing.

My friend told me this, which he heard from his TA.

They were disposing of products after the experiments and had different bottles. Someone accidentally put what they thought was water into a waste bottle but it wasn't the right one and it reacted and put chemicals all over him and his face. So naturally you go to the wash station and take off your clothes but problem is that when they did that they yanked down on the shower thing and it didn't work... because the building is old. So they had to literally man handle the pipe and break it and this flood of brown rusty water covered their friend with bad chemicals all over his body >_>.

i guess it depends on where you spend your first two years. if you're at a community college it's a whole lot easier to transfer than let's say you start out at a university and want to transfer to a better university. if you transfer from one university to another that would require a lot more effort and good grades would surely benefit you.

You already got some great replies.

But seriously think about this: are you positive you want to transfer? From my point of view (perhaps biased), you are wasting two precious years of your life. The first year/two years are typically when you're getting to know the school and making lifelong friends, plus experiencing the dorm life. Are you willing to give that up? (This is all assuming you're considering a community college).
Now for going to an university for two years and then transfer, well, that really will depend on you.
Perhaps during college, you will learn to love your school, love the friends you have, love the professor/faculty. Whatever it may be, keep in mind that there's a chance you won't want to give up what you have for the bigger school title and/or your parents.

Just something to think about.

I don't know many people who have transfered, but according to random stats most people transfer during Junior equivalent in college. mm th at's all I can say.

As for study abroad, it really depends on your school's policy and what YOU want to do. College is all about figuring what YOU want out of life. It's completely possible to study abroad for a quarter or for a year during sophomore year (only IF there are problems that allow sophomores to do th is) and then transfer to another college following Junior year.

Study abroad depends on what experience you want. Do you want to just visit and study like a tourist? Or do you actually want to get integrated with people and learn in another language. It depends on what you want, really.

I would personally suggest either sophomore or junior year to go study abroad. Freshman year you're still figuring out how to be a college student (and most programs don't allow freshmen anyways), and starting Junior to senior year you have to be thinking about internships and post-college. This is just my opinion though. You should only go when you feel ready (or when you're financially ready x__x holy cow).

Nothing really amazing happened. oh wait, it snowed on the first of December. I got pummeled with a snowball in my face by a random guy who I didn't have the guts to beat up. Yea, that's about it. It NEVER snows on the first of December where I'm from. @_@;
Why hello. :)
