Ahhh!!! Christmas is coming in what?...3 DAYS!!! And here I am sitting here infront of my computer googling through pages and pages of recipes but still couldn't find the right one. Wouldn't have this problem if my mom was here. You see...I wanna bring something over to my in laws (don't know if that's proper to call them that) this Christmas. Since they seem to only eat Vietnamese or Chinese foods all the time I really don't know what to make. I know a few Vietnamese dishes but those are just basics and I want something more fancy?

All of this is kinda weird to me since with my family we usually eat American food on our Christmas Dinner but of course some Dim Sum for our Christmas Breakfast. If only his parents would eat American food! They ate Chinese Chicken Curry on Thanksgiving! Weird... Sorry if I offended anyone. Hihi... Anyways...anyone know any good dish to make that I won't be wasting too much money on the ingredients?

if you're just coming over, then it's better to bring an appetizer or a desert. Like make che thai (thai sweet thingy with jackfruits, tapioca pearls, half&half and other fruits). that one is always popular at the parties i go to ^^ for appetizer, i would suggest goi (like papaya salad) that can be eaten with banh phong tom (shrimp crackers). haha, dunno if you're familiar with all the terms i'm throwing at you.

but the best idea imho, is to come over early and help his mom around the kitchen. so maybe just bring wine for the father so you don't come empty handed? lolz

thanks hamster428. yes, i'm very familiar with all the terms you've used because those are my fav! hihi... i was thinking of something similar too but was afraid that it might be too simple for christmas dinner? yeah..i'll probably come over early to help. the che thai seems good. i'll make it extra sweet so his mom won't be eating since she hates or tries to avoids sweet. hahah...j/k. good thing my hubby doesn't go on here. happy.gif

Yeah I eat american food for christmas too, and I have gone to Dim Sum in the mornings too. But how about spring rolls/egg rolls, fried rice, fried noodles, or those shrimp cracker. Those are good and easy to make. Or how about a dessert like Flan. I mean, I doubt their expecting you to bring something amazing, anything would probably be greatly appreciated.
