I've found out the hard way that if you don't like the person, straight up tell him/her that you'd rather remain friends rather than just avoiding the person.

i would talk to him, because if i treat him no different then maybe he will think that he has a chance, and thats not fair. This wont be the same anyways. I would rather tell him what i feel and how much i enjoy just being friends with him. Then he will have a chance to move on, find another girl and yeah.... maybe things b/w s will sort of cool off or create a tension, bt thats that for a moment, and then everything will come back to normal i guess, or i will try to
