Anybody given this album a listen yet? I downloaded it for a listen, and it's HOT. Lupe's last album "Food & Liquor" was pretty good but "The Cool" tops it. I'll even put it above Kanye West's "Graduation" album, and I love that album too. The lyrical flow and beats in this album are just terrific.

Superstar's probably the best song on it, being the album's first single

Watch the music video for "Superstar" : http://youtube.com/watch?v=in_K9zxsWrw

Matthew Santos sounds awesome, even though I've never heard of him prior to "Superstar."

This album is probably the best form of alternative hip-hop in years, the way he delivers messages are insane.

Recommended tracks:
- "Superstar"
- "Hip-Hop Saved My Life"
- "Hello/Goodbye" (Uncool) <- Pulls a Twista rapping pretty fast
- "Go Go Gadget Flow"
- "Paris, Tokyo"
- "Hi-Definition"

My rating: 9.3/10

During the recording of the album, Lupe Fiasco's father died, his good friend Stack Bundles died, and his business partner and mentor—Charles "Chilly" Patton—was sentenced to 44 years in prison. When asked about the album's dark side, Lupe Fiasco replied:

Oh yeah. A lot of loss. I lost my father, I lost my business partner to prison, and I lost some friends. It was a very dark period. It still is in some aspects, but you know, I'm kind of coming out of it. But especially during the time that the album was being cooked, in my head it was a very dark kind of period.

I'm pretty picky with what albums I buy, especially when it comes to hip-hop. This one's worth buying, no doubt.
NEWSFLASH: I HAVEN'T BEEN A MODERATOR FOR LIKE 2-3 YEARS, SO STOP MESSAGING ME ABOUT YOUR PROBLEMS.

Agreed.
I love Lupe, he always puts so much depth into everything he writes~ <3 :D I also love how he played off The Cool concept from the song on F&L XD
돌아오기 어색해. 모두다 괜찮니?

This being my first post, glad it's on Lupe. He definitely delivered on his sophomore album, and I can't say how much I've been anticipating it. I'll heavily recommend Go Go Gadget Flow and Hip Hop Saved My Life. This is what blows that dirty South music out of the water.

i LOVE Go Go Gadget Flow!

I went to his meet and greet in Chicago-freaking stood in line for 2 1/2 hours to get my cd signed and a picture with him.

It was pretty funny too coz before we went to the meet and greet, we went to Leaders to kill time and stuff and the people there were asking us if were going to see lupe and when we told them we were, they were like if you get this card signed by him and tell him that the leaders crew got love for him and there isn't any bad blood between them they'd give us a free t-shirt. We thought it was some kind of scam to get us kicked out of the the meet and greet but they were like we know lupe. you don't got to say the bad blood part just get this card signed and don't think of forging his sig we know it. Went to the meet and greet and got the cards signed. Got free t-shirts.

Pretty fun night =) lol
Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won't either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have
to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or
betrayed, or left behind, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their
sweetness. Tell yourself that you tasted as many as you could." -- Louise Erdrich

I've had this album on heavy rotation lately. I liked this better than "Food & Liquor". Though I'm not really feelin' "Superstar" there are more than enough tracks to make up for it.

My favorites are:

Go Go Gadget Flow
The Coolest
Gold Watch
Little Weapon (Omg, read the book "Beasts of No Nation" about child soldiers if you really have no idea what he's talking about.)
Go Baby (This song makes me grin cuz its so sweet)
My avatar is NOT a picture of me, that's Nishikido Ryo. And yes, he is hot.
I'm a girl.

i totally agree. this album is worth buying. i love every track on there. finally rap music that doesnt involve sex, blings, or drugs. i mean you can actually listen to the lyrics and enjoy them. i wish radios would play more of lupe's stuff instead of that soulja boy crap.

Lupe is probably the only good rapper in mainstream, and he's not even all that mainstream.
