I am a freshman majoring in history! I chose it obviously because I love history ^^ even though I don't always like reading. also because it is versatile and one can get many different types of jobs with a history major.

I was just wondering: what kind of job do you plan to get with your history major? I wanna teach history to high school students!
the way that works in my university is that I need to apply for entry into the teacher education program in junior year, and if I get in, I will spend a total of at least five years in college. and after that I will most likely go to grad school for 1-2 years. so I'm gonna be in school for a long time but it's ok because I feel that it is very important for the youth to learn about history

but if I ever change my mind about teaching, I would go into politics or something o_O

I'm a history major, and I'm planning to go into either teaching or a writing career. History is such a broad topic, so I'm glad I don't have to make up my mind just yet. I love history!!

i enjoy history, especially 20th century political history. but I don't see myself majoring in it because i can't figure out what i can do with a bachelor of history =(

why, you can be a history teacher, or a politician, or a lawyer! I think there are other careers one can pursue with a history major but I don't remember them all offhand :\

Also, I recommend that you don't go to graduate school right away for history. Just make sure you get a teaching job at a high school and after you get or your near tenure status, pursue the graduate school. By then, you'll be financial stable and have a secure job.

I'm a history & psychology double major but I came in as a history major as a freshman. I absolutely love history! especially the classes about Greek, Roman, and European history.

some job opportunities as a history major include being a lawyer, museum curator, professor/teacher, etc.
