Ok so there are 2 deadlines for usc
dec 10- scholarship consideration
jan 10- everyone else
if i'm applying for financial aid, would that go under the scholarship consideration deadline or the regular deadline?
and when they say consideration, it's no guarantee right?

Okay.
the December Deadline is basically if you want to be CONSIDERED for MERIT-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS. You will also be considered for need-based financial aid if you send in your FAFSA/CSS Profile/Tax returns by the deadline (march-ish I think?).
Now, if you send it in by January, you'll still get need-based fin. aid if you qualify, but you won't be considered at all for the merit-based scholarships.
These merit-based scholarships are amazing -- quarter tuition, half tuition, and full tuition along with "smaller" amounts (1k-5k~?).
I do hear that it is really difficult to get these scholarships (3.8++, 1450+, lots of extracurriculars, etc.) but why not go for it?
