I decided to do a project based on the iPods since they're so popular and whatnot.
It'd be really nice for me to know people's personal opinions of them, whether its positive or negative.

Please use the following format to answer the questions. I know there's actually quite a few, so you don't have to answer everything if you get too bored/lazy.

Many thanks.

CODE
[b]Age & Gender(If you're not comfortable with revealing your age you can use relative terms.)[/b]

[b]Are you the fan of the iPod? Why or why not? Be as detailed as possible.[/b]

[b]What is your opinion based on? (Past experience, reviews, etc.)[/b]

[b]Do you own (or would like) to own an iPod? Which model/generation?[/b]

[b]There are many other MP3 players on the market, have you looked over them? If yes, about how many? What other brand would you own and why?[/b]

I may add more questions, you can just edit your post if you decide to respond to it later on.

Age & Gender(If you're not comfortable with revealing your age you can use relative terms.)
22 male

Are you the fan of the iPod? Why or why not? Be as detailed as possible.
Yes hardware is nice, no because software is unpleasant.

What is your opinion based on? (Past experience, reviews, etc.)
Past experience, short term working with brother's ipod.

Do you own (or would like) to own an iPod? Which model/generation?
Own Ipod touch.

In regards to YOUR OWN needs, what are the positives and negatives to the iPod?
Negatives: Price, software, format compatibility (why can't they play DIVX!), and capacity.
Positive: Accessories, for the touch specific touch screen, and good browser.

There are many other MP3 players on the market, have you looked over them? If yes, about how many? What other brand would you own and why?
Creative, Zen Vision series has good format compatiblity but is large.
Archos 605 wifi supports many formats, expandable memory, but is huge, ugly, and the browser isn't quite as good.

Age & Gender(If you're not comfortable with revealing your age you can use relative terms.)
15, Female

Are you the fan of the iPod? Why or why not? Be as detailed as possible.
Yes, because they are simple, easy to use, and are small. lol The software is actually pretty easy to figure too if you look for it. Also I like how there are 3-4 Apple stores near where I live so whenever I have trouble, I can just go there. But I do know that iPod's could be a whole lot better.

What is your opinion based on? (Past experience, reviews, etc.)
Past experience with my old nano and now using my new iPod Classic.

Do you own (or would like) to own an iPod? Which model/generation?
Yup, own 80GB iPod Classic, I think it's the 5th generation.

In regards to YOUR OWN needs, what are the positives and negatives to the iPod?
I JUST NEED MY MUSIC. As long as that's accessible and able to play some movies on the side I'm all set.

There are many other MP3 players on the market, have you looked over them? If yes, about how many? What other brand would you own and why?
Yes, a few, because again iPod's (or anything) has room for improvement and sometimes their prices are ridiculous! *cough cough* iPod Touch *cough cough* (Sorry Awdark! :[) But then again, iPods give a lot of space for your money, except the iPod touch and the iPhone.

Archos 605 WiFi (30GB) Because you can do a lot of other things other than listen to music but it costs about or more than my iPod now and has 50GB less storage. ._.

iRiver Clix (4GB, second generation) Cheaper than iPod, less amount of storage (of course), touch screen! But not really availible in stores. ._.

17, Female

Are you the fan of the iPod? Why or why not? Be as detailed as possible.
Yes and no. It's easy to use but after much experience, it stuffs up WAY too much for me.

What is your opinion based on? (Past experience, reviews, etc.)
Oops. I said it above.

Do you own (or would like) to own an iPod? Which model/generation?
I own the iPod mini 6gb, 2nd generation. I'd love to own any iPod bigger than 6gb, pref. the 80gb or 160gb iPod Classic, or Video. tongue.gif Or the iPod Touch, ahaha.

In regards to YOUR OWN needs, what are the positives and negatives to the iPod?
I need HEAPS of storage for my music, because I have way too many and I'm sick of deleting songs for more space.
Also, I need LONGGGGGG lasting battery. My battery now is absolutely useless and I'm always relying on my adaptor to listen to music.
And I need one that won't crash all the time =_= I swear my iPod has crashed more than 20 times this year and it's bugging the crap out of me.

There are many other MP3 players on the market, have you looked over them? If yes, about how many? What other brand would you own and why?
iRiver Mplayer v2.0 - because it is WAY TOO CUTE, even though the capacity is like, not what I'm looking for ._. AND IT'S MICKEY MOUSE! <3
But I'm still looking at iPods. I personally think it's luck, when getting an iPod that actually has NO problems with it. There's so much space & I'm so used to using it. So yeah.

Age & Gender(If you're not comfortable with revealing your age you can use relative terms.)
Teenager.^^

Are you the fan of the iPod? Why or why not? Be as detailed as possible.
Yes. When I first got my iPod Video (30 GB) I was like, why am I going to need 30 GB?
But now, I love my iPod, especially because it can play Video and Music. smile.gif
iPods>any other Mp3.

What is your opinion based on? (Past experience, reviews, etc.)
Experience. Friends' Experiences.

Do you own (or would like) to own an iPod? Which model/generation?
Yes. 5th Generation Video smile.gif

In regards to YOUR OWN needs, what are the positives and negatives to the iPod?
No negatives.
The ability to play music and video.
And, the awesome design.

There are many other MP3 players on the market, have you looked over them? If yes, about how many? What other brand would you own and why?
Yes, I've looked. However, the iPod is better by far. smile.gif

Age & Gender(If you're not comfortable with revealing your age you can use relative terms.)
34 yo female.

Are you the fan of the iPod? Why or why not? Be as detailed as possible.
Yes. I love my iPod. It's easy to use, if you understand how Macs work.

What is your opinion based on? (Past experience, reviews, etc.)
Present experience.

Do you own (or would like) to own an iPod? Which model/generation?
I own an 80G iPod Classic, 6th Generation. My hubby bought it for me for our wedding anniversary. I have a wonderful hubby! wub.gif

In regards to YOUR OWN needs, what are the positives and negatives to the iPod?
+ easy to use;lots of storage (I have barely started to use the storage on my iPod).
- the iTunes store is annoying to deal with...but that's for another poll, I suppose.

There are many other MP3 players on the market, have you looked over them? If yes, about how many? What other brand would you own and why?
I did have an MP3 player before I got my iPod. Since I own a mac, it was a pain to convert my iTunes music to my MP3 player. That's the main reason I got an iPod in the first place. Now, I get a lot of my music at amazon.com because my iPod can play MP3 but I can't get MP3 from iTunes. Amazon.com is also cheaper than iTunes. w00t.gif
You can find me on the web at Koreafornian Cooking, ZenKimchi Food Journal, Twitter & on Facebook.

Age & Gender(If you're not comfortable with revealing your age you can use relative terms.)
Sixteen. Girl.

Are you the fan of the iPod? Why or why not? Be as detailed as possible.
Yeah, everyone had one and I was feeling a bit left out. I suppose I just conformed. tongue.gif I think it's great (compared to the crappy thing I used to have!). Hasn't stuffed up on it's own accord, well, maybe once. The interface is simple. You can buy games, watch videos, view photos etc. I've had mine for 1.5 years, I do baby it though. tongue.gif

What is your opinion based on? (Past experience, reviews, etc.)
My own personal experience.

Do you own (or would like) to own an iPod? Which model/generation?
Yeah, I own a 30GB one. I think it's the fourth generation. The one before the current one. I used to have the first generation iPod Shuffle.

In regards to YOUR OWN needs, what are the positives and negatives to the iPod?
Positive - Large capacity. Simple to use. Slimish. Plays games. Nice screen size for movies.
Negative - The headphones were really crappy (but that was easily solved). Felt a bit wide for me, but got used to it. A bit pricey when they're first released. No inbuilt radio. You can't sync just some specific songs (I don't want to destroy my play count TT")

There are many other MP3 players on the market, have you looked over them? If yes, about how many? What other brand would you own and why?
Not really. I just sorta asked my Dad for an iPod. I didn't really know how to compare them since MP3s were still new to me at the time.

Age & Gender(If you're not comfortable with revealing your age you can use relative terms.)
20. Male.

Are you the fan of the iPod? Why or why not? Be as detailed as possible.
I like it, but I'm not a hardcore diehard fan. most of it is hype and marketing, but even so, apple has made some very nice products. not perfect, but nice.

What is your opinion based on? (Past experience, reviews, etc.)
Previous experience with 3 ipods. also had input from friends.

Do you own (or would like) to own an iPod? Which model/generation?
iPod Touch 16gb, 1st gen. (also have iPod video 30gb (5th gen), sister's iPod nano 1gb (1st gen))

In regards to YOUR OWN needs, what are the positives and negatives to the iPod?
The biggest screen for the smallest form makes it suitable for watching vids; very nice form factor and asthetics. I like the wifi on the new touch and the 3rd party (after jailbreak) apps for the touch. Nice interface. Apple's warranty is good. Many accessories available.

Not too fond of the packaged earbuds, price (more expensive than competition products), format limitations (no ogg, wmv, avi-divx support) and sound quality could be better.

There are many other MP3 players on the market, have you looked over them? If yes, about how many? What other brand would you own and why?
Pretty much overlooked most of the others because they dont get as much exposure as the ipod. but if i had to choose a non-ipod, it would probably one from creative. seems good for the price and it supports more video formats, maknig it better for video viewing. however, the other products seem to be a bit bulkier as well... crazy.gif

Age & Gender(If you're not comfortable with revealing your age you can use relative terms.)
16 and female

Are you the fan of the iPod? Why or why not? Be as detailed as possible.
Yes, because it looks nice and is user-friendly. But they should really upgrade their software. It's laggy sometimes.

What is your opinion based on? (Past experience, reviews, etc.)
Experience with 20GB (3rd gen) and the present one.

Do you own (or would like) to own an iPod? Which model/generation?
Yes. I have a 30GB iPod classic (5th gen) now.

In regards to YOUR OWN needs, what are the positives and negatives to the iPod?
+ves: One of the mp3s I know with the biggest storage. Acts like my portable hard drive. Clear screen.
-ves: Doesn't have fantastic sound quality. Earphones spoil very easily. Hangs when I scroll a little faster.

There are many other MP3 players on the market, have you looked over them? If yes, about how many? What other brand would you own and why?
Not really. I got my first iPod two years back because my brother had one and I thought it looks cool. Furthermore, I wasn't really into gadgets at that time. Hehe.

somewhat, i like it but i wouldn't say im a fan, its practicall and simple to use so thats why i like it

What is your opinion based on? (Past experience, reviews, etc.)

i would say its a good mp3 player, and pretty reliable
Do you own (or would like) to own an iPod? Which model/generation?

i don't own one, its my little brothers but i put my music on it and we share it so yeah, its the 3rd gen nano
In regards to YOUR OWN needs, what are the positives and negatives to the iPod?

there should be an option to delete songs straight from the mp3 player, or i havent found it but yeah...and i dont really like how it syncs to your library cause my brother and i have diff comps so its kind of a hassle but its just a minor thing
There are many other MP3 players on the market, have you looked over them? If yes, about how many? What other brand would you own and why?
i wanted him to get a meizu m6 cause its like 100 dollars cheaper with the same functions but my brother is a stubborn little bastard and tries to be like his friends so he wanted the nano anyways

You can put your iPod in Manual (one of the check box options when you connect your iPod to the computer). However all the songs on it right now will delete until you manually click and drag the rest of the songs back on. Fortunately it's easy to highlight many songs at one time, but hey, this is just a suggestion. That way you can use the iPod on different computers, and it's easy to delete songs.

Oh, and I already did this questionaire. XD -points up-

What is your opinion based on? (Past experience, reviews, etc.): It's not bad, I'm scared it might break someday though.

In regards to YOUR OWN needs, what are the positives and negatives to the iPod?: It can hold a lot of songs?.. XD I think it's too heavy though.

Age & Gender(If you're not comfortable with revealing your age you can use relative terms.)
19; Female

Are you the fan of the iPod? Why or why not? Be as detailed as possible.
Yes, though I haven't used many other brand-name mp3 players. I like that it's very easy to use, is visually appealing, and I also really like iTunes.

What is your opinion based on? (Past experience, reviews, etc.)
Before I bought my first iPod (in 2004) I had read many reviews which were pretty positive overall. And based on past experience, I was satisfied with my old iPod

Do you own (or would like) to own an iPod? Which model/generation?
From 2004-2007, I used the 3rd generation 15GB iPod (no color, no pictures). And in September 2007, I bought a 3rd generation 8GB iPod nano.

In regards to YOUR OWN needs, what are the positives and negatives to the iPod?
Part of what makes the iPod advantageous over other mp3 players is that it's easiest to find accessories for the iPod (car accessories, etc.) Negatives: It is a hassle to replace the battery once it dies. This isn't a big deal, but I also don't like the aluminum backing; it's too easily scratchable.

There are many other MP3 players on the market, have you looked over them? If yes, about how many? What other brand would you own and why?
I've considered getting a different mp3 player (mostly the Creative Zen players), but in the end, I still stuck with the iPod because I'm too used to iTunes and don't want to change programs. Also, I don't like that a lot of other mp3 players don't have language support, which I NEED (I'm not willing to change all my tags)
