My sisters' names are sunshine and rainbow.
My sister rainbow is also called twinkle. ^^
My sister sunshine named her son Zion shas.
Her husband's name is kalikasan (tagalog for 'nature').
His siblings names are tala('star'), kalayaan('freedom'), and rebolusyon ('revolution').
Once, I had this crush whose name was storm, he has sisters whose names are snow and rainbow (same as mine! ^^)
I have friends whose names are Icar (ai-car), and rhealiza (realize-a)...^^

and yeah, they actually exist...^^ those are our real names...

Those are some nice names i especially like the ones pertaining to revolution and freedom.
Your parents must be some really open minded and loving people to come up with those names.

What do you guys think of oddly spelled names. (Ex. Genniphyer instead of Jennifer)


I think it's kind of stupid. I think people are trying to give their kids more creative unique names, but it just kind of seems like the parents are illiterate

there are variations of certain names.
i've seen ashleigh/ashley
or melyssa/melissa
it's common nowadays.

I don't think the spelling of the name matters so much as the name itself. Heard of the baby named Apple?

That's hilarious. I mean I know you didn't mean any offense to anyone who has an oddly spelled name but I never thought of that. No no I just think that your right, they either try to give their child a not-so-commonly used name. That's kinda weird though. I guess pronounciation would be the issue with each oddly spelled name. .

I love using and seeing unique spellings for names. I don't really see how it shows illiteracy. It's like... being able to move both inside and outside the norm.

I think spelling names differently also has to do with where you come from. You know like if you're spanish or American. (i.e. Sonia and Sonija).

I don't think it's illiterate, I think it's nice to see a variation in spelling.

The weirdest name I've ever come across was Nacho. I think it was my sister's classmate.
Aww, Milky Way and Milky Star are such cute names. I think I would cry myself to sleep if I was named that, though.

examples:
my friend Jamie = Jme
my friend Casey = KC
i used to spell my name Jayne instead of Jane i always thought it would look cooler.. but i decided not too.. ahaha

one of my closest friends she spells her name Sofija instead of Sophia cuz she's from Serbia and they pronounce the "J" as a silent letter which is neat and her sister Natalija = Natalia

it really depends, like the example you gave looks a bit weird to me but with other names it does look cool. my friend Freyja, her parents added a 'j' in her name and my friend Michell, her parents didn't put an 'e' at the end of her name.

Genniphyer is a really weird spelling for Jennifer. :x I mean, it's a little too much. But variations in spelling because of origin are cool, IMO. Like someone posting an example like Sofija and Natalija - I think those are really cool spellings.
