Okay, so I'm still kinda "new" to this Japanese drama[as in live-action dramas] thing; I've only watched a handful and I wondered if you can recommend any good titles?

I've already watched the movies "Lovely Complex" and "Cinderella wa naritai". The series I've already watched fully are HYD and Hana Kimi.

So, any recommendations? I don't care about the actors[though I absolutely love Ikuta Toma<3], as long as the plot is good and it set to lighthearted comedy/drama.

its seriously good and a MUST WATCH.

nodame cantabile (crazyyyy good and funny and theres a special coming out too~~)
stand up was really funny if you can stand sexual humor (plus young yamapi and nino!!!)
anego (had some intense jin love moments~)
i might be a minority here but i also really liked first kiss (has the main girl from hana yori dango in it)

^haha yes i agree, first kiss wasn't that bad because the acting was carried out really well although i find it more drama and not that much comedy except for the two guys living with the main actor

1. Hana Kimi (Beats the crap outta the taiwan version - sooo much funnier and the lead actress is just infinitely more convincing as a pretty boy as compared to ella )
2. Nodame Cantabile (I LOVE this. It's just too cute and funny)
3. Kimi Wa Petto (Just too cute and feel good a movie to miss. Matsumoto Jun is wayyy cute in this)
4. Brother Beat (Charming family drama with lotsa eye candy :woot: )
5. Nobuta Wo Produce (Yamapi and Kame - enough reason to catch this show )
6. Life (Really interesting thought provoking drama that leaves a deep impression long after finishing with the series)
7. My Boss, My Hero (Really quirky and funny - another funny, feel good film)
8. Proposal Daisakusen (very touching and has Yamapi in it *wink* )
9. Gokusen 1 and 2 (Loads of fun and eye candy)
10. GTO (a must-watch jdrama classic. look out for young oguri shun!!)
11. God give me more time (Fantastic cast, great storyline and pacing, very touching. another must-watch)
12. Heaven's coins (Probably one of the best Japanese drama ever)
13. Summer Snow (Really nice. Watched it a long time ago and i remember it to this day)
14. Kurosagi (Fast Paced and smart with bits of humour thrown in. Plus there's yamapi :woot: )
15. 1 litre of tears (a must-watch as others have said. very touching with a brilliant performance by the lead actress who's also very pretty)

jmovies:

1. Nana 1 and 2 (Brilliant soundtrack for both movies and I heart Mika Nakashima)
2. Battle Royale (Stylish, fast paced and engaging)
3. Water Boys (Really funny. The lead actor from Nodame plays a leading role in this! He's the funny guy with the afro hair and mole )
4. Go (Stylish and thought-provoking. Yosuke Kabozuka puts up a brilliant performance as always)
5. Boy's love (ok this i haven't watched but i've heard it's really good and i definitely intend to catch this)

1. Nodame Cantabile - this one is A MUST WATCH. It's a CLASSIC. The focus on classic music and teamwork was brilliant.
2. 1 litre of Tears - this was a very beautiful production, which will make you cry from the first ep till the very end..touches your heart in a really emotional way.
3. Son-In-Law (I forgot the original title) - by Nagase Tomoya, very cute and funny..
