Hi everyone~~ I hope u're all enjoying the holiday break so far. smile.gif

Ok, my question is: What do you guys look for when buying a set of earbuds/earphones?? Do you compare the specifications listed on the packaging, or what?

thnx in advance!!

Anyways, I think the best set of earbuds I have used so far is the JVC Bud Headphone (HA-FX33-B ).
I went to buy some new earbuds the other day on boxing day and ended up getting the Sony Buds Headphones (MDREX32LPB). I asked an associate at the store (BestBuy) about the comparison between the JVC ones i used with the Sony ones, and he was like: "Oh, I recommend the Sony ones."
However, when I took them home to try them out, I wasn't impressed with them because:

1. they don't reduce external noise as well as my JVC earbuds.
2. I had to turn the volume a bit higher (when tested on a particular song) to match the same volume level as the JVC earbuds when listening to the same song.

there are some specs you can look at - response range (wider is better), response chart (to see whether it suits your sound preferences), impedance (affects volume and sound), and even signal-to-noise ratio (hiss) is included for some. at the end oif the day, i wouldn't rely on specs alone - best to find a bunch of user reviews.

I was looking for some headphones a while ago, I found www.headphone.com really helpful, they actually measured the real frequency responses from a lot of high end headphones. That might not mean too much to you though, and your experience is still very subjective.

In general though, ear buds are pretty crappy. I got a pair of Sennheiser MX400 (they were like, $12 or something), and those would probably be pretty good for the ear bud category.

If you want to spend more, you can get some ear canal headphones from Shure or whatever.

There's a lot of choices, you need to figure out what you need and what you like and make your selection from there.

oh, then... what I am actually looking for are EAR CANAL ear phones... XD and I thought those are also called earbuds... o__O
I also don't like ear buds cuz they don't fit inside ur ear... and u can still hear external noise.
Thx for the link! I'll check it out

whoa...
I'm guessing that if u're walking or standing along a busy street with those earphones on, u'll most likely hear nothing, or no external noise... except for ur music.
I'm also guessing that one must be EXTREMELY wealthy to be using such earphones... o___o
good thing u had a chance to try them. ^^
