Okay, so I'm looking for something to replace my cheap pc headphones, and I've decided to ask the people here since you're all tech-y and stuff. smile.gif

I'm looking for something around $20-30, closed, has noise canceling, and good audio quality. I saw a pair from Sony, but I'm not sure if Sony's audio is that good. I'm looking for something that has sound quality like Apple's iPod earphones.

Any recommendations? I'm currently self-studying audio mixing and editing, plus I'm a huge audiophile.

Thanks in advance!

I'm a huge audiophile too. mixing techno and djing for fun.

thus I won't recommend any headphones unless you plan to spend a wee bit more money.

I'm currently using (250$)Sony MDR-V700 DJ's for my audio sex. I used to have Sennheiser HD595's.. but I returned them after listening to my friends mdrv700's.(sound quality isn't immensely different, but when you play wth music alot.. you notice. these are cheaper too. lol)

for CHEAP ones, I bought my step sister a pair of Panasonic RP-HTX7something at london drugs a couple months ago for 59.99$. right now they're like 21.07 or some weird price(boxing week).
they're a pretty good on the bass though. it was something like 7-20khz low-high.

of course I'm not an expert when it comes to audio though.

You should consider upping your price range to 50 or so and pick up a pair of AKG's, good quality for the price. If you want entry level audiophile stuff, go with Grado's SR-60 or SR-80, Denon, or Equation Audio's RP-21. Those all hover around 100 though :[

^I'm not willing to spend that much, I'm kinda broke, so I'm looking for stuff with more or less those features. Doesn't necessarily have to be a top-of-the-line product, just something decent and clear as my ipod's earphones. smile.gif

If you're open to earbuds, I'd say check out the V-moda bass freq's...they're going on sale for $24.99 with free shipping on order over $25 at Amazon, so you'll have to find a filler to get that free shipping. Anyway, these are so much better than the ipod earphones, and the bass response is superb for an earbud at this price. If you listen to hip hop or music with a lot of bass, you'll like these. Please know that these are the in-ear style, which some people find very uncomfortable. They do an awesome job of keeping ambient noise to a minimum IMO...

And those Sony MDR-V700's do not go for $250. Here's a site that's selling them for $99 shipped, and DJDeals is a reputable seller. I bought my denon headphones from them. And don't buy the Sony's MDR-V700's...they're notorious for breaking...I've had many friends that have had them and had them physically break at the joints within months. There's even an online petition against these: http://www.petitiononline.com/sonymdrv/petition.html

The MDR700s have horrible build quality and not enough bass. Stylish looking cans but they're what.. nearly 10 years old. I'm just lucky that mine fell apart after 5 years instead of 2.

^Agree.

A friend and I did a little experiment out of curiousity.
We compared iPod and Sony headphones.
And honestly, Sony sounds so much better than iPod earbuds, mannn.

whatever. true story, bro.
