What type of rice do you guys mostly eat?
And what kind do you eat with bibimbap? smile.gif
I'm not korean nor asian &I don't know anything, hahaha.
Only know there's different types of rice.......
& you know like the rice they have in sushi is a special kind,
so you can't use any kind of rice you want if you want it to taste like it's 'supposed' to taste?

I feel kind of ' rolleyes.gif ' for starting this topic but whatever! tongue2.gif

So, what kind of rice do you use? smile.gif smile.gif

Sorry if this has been asked before!

Most Koreans use medium grain rice, similar to Japanese sushi rice for their cooking. Here in the US, our "typical" rice is long grain, which cooks a little differently. In my recipes, I use basmati rice because it has a lower Glycemic Indexthan other rices, which is good for those who are diabetic or restricting carbs to lose weight.

There's no such thing as "plain rice", imo.

I don't know that there's any rice that's "good" for diabetics. Your mom should stick with the kind of diet her doctor tells her. However, the link on the glycemic index is a good guide.
