If you dont know exactly, just a rough estimate would be nice.

The way it typically breaks down is:
Breakfast - Eggs/Leftovers/Sandwich or whatever is around - 300-900 calories
Mid-day snack - Sandwich + skim milk or V8/skim milk + small piece of chocolate - 150-500 calories
Lunch - Pasta/Leftovers/Sandwich/Stir-fry/Grilled meat & rice - 600-900 calories
Mid-day snack - Glass of milk - 100 calories
Dinner - There are way too many variations on this one - 600-900 calories
Of course all caloric values are approximations, mostly on the high-side to be safe. Plus, that's only when I eat all my meals at home - if I eat out, I know my calorie consumption goes through the roof.
Since I've started eating like this, I don't seem to gain weight anymore. I was 155 last month, now I'm 153. I live a fairly sedentary lifestyle since I work at home, but I do work out occasionally - not nearly as much as I used to. If I wanted to lose weight quickly for some reason, I'd make sure all my meals were in the 400-600 calorie range, and keep my snacks in the 100-300 range, making my grand total 1400-2400 calories consumed. Hope that helps!

We had an assignment in high school to count calories for biology
but I always had a difficult time guessing the portions (handful of this, that, whatever)
Your body burns calories (sorry I don't know how much exactly) just in order to function so even if you're sitting there you're still burning calories but in order to lose weight you need to burn off more than you take in. I don't really believe in changing a person's diet anymore (except for cutting out soda and junk/fast food because just doing that will do wonders) because it causes too much stress. Maybe little things like adding beans and barley to your rice and drinking more water/green tea....and this isn't what you asked was it? ^^; hehehe
I think these days I take in 1000 or less >.< I've been so busy I only eat once or twice a day without even realizing it. It's baaad I know~

morning: cup of tea
lunch: PB+J sandwich, Instant Breakfast
after-swim snack: campbell's chunky soup (usually, sometimes i skip it)
dinner: varied asian food, but i don't eat that much.
And shepherds we shall be, for thee my Lord for thee, power hath descended forth from thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command. We shall flow a river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti.

Ditto !
Less junk, fastfood; more water, fruits, exercise.
