Hey~

So when I decided to wear eye contacts, I went to see the opticien for soft lenses.
They're the most common lenses so I thought I might give it a go.
Turns out, the lenses were to big (diameter-wise) and didn't fit in my eye;
or, as they would do very often, they would only fit in half my eye and the other half just..dangles around.

The problem is that I can't seem to "stretch" my eyelids (both upper and lower parts) wide enough for the lenses to fit in.
My opticien finally said that it was time to go for Plan B...
which were hard contacts.

These were smaller compared to the normal, soft lenses but also more excruciating than anyone would ever know.
Even the tiniest speck of dust or whatever would hurt like a mofo and..I must say, it's really really uncomfortable since I can actually feel them in my eyes (before you say: "Duh rolleyes.gif ", I mean they really really feel uncomfortable T__T).

Now my eyes aren't really that small (for proof, see 411); and I've seen people wear soft lenses who have smaller eyes than I have.
I really thought I could fit those buggers in, but it didn't work.
Because my friends say that soft contacts don't hurt at all (or not as bad as the hard ones); I really wanted to give it a try V__V

Anyone experiencing the same problem or anyone know a solution?
(Please don't suggest double-eyelid surgery or anything farfetched, thank you smile.gif )

Somehow, I'm happy that I even get to wear contacts, but on the other hand..hard lenses aren't really that great.

A friend of mine suggested I shove 50% of the soft contact in my eye and just "slide" the other half into my eye by blinking..
and the soft contact would automatically place itself on the right spot.

It's possible, cos my friend, her eyes are sooo small,even smaller than yours but she could fit those lens in.
do you stretch both the top and bottom lids? you should try.
or maybe literally O_O
or... stretch the top lid, then look up, place it in, then blink...llike what you friend suggest.
maybe it might work... unsure.gif

which brand did u try?
there are many brands of soft lenses out there w/ different shapes and circumferences...some brands' lense are smaller than other ones..

for my optometrist, if you are actually ordering the contacts from her, she would measures the pupil length for you and recommend/prescribe the right contacts for u...w/ the perfect fit..

Hey thanks for the fast replies guys!

First of all, I should clarify that I live in The Netherlands (yes, that's in Europe);
there isn't any specific brand as there are only 2 major eye contacts companies where I live.

I've also asked around if there were "custom-made" sizes, but there isn't such thing in Holland.
Also, I've been well-informed about how to put in soft-contacts...

it's just that my eyelids won't budge to a further extent than they already do at their maximum "stretch-mode" xD
I've tried putting them in for two weeks (as the opticien gave me a sampling-period), but to no avail V__V

And usually..opticiens do not recommend hard contacts generally because they're much more uncomfortable than the regular ones.

I am completely flabberghasted about the fact that there are people with (quoting "kimchee1"s words) "coinslots" for eyes who manage to get them in.

Really flabberghasted.. V__V

do u close your other eye when u put it in one eye?

keep both open

when i around fifth grade and had dream lenses, my mom had to take them on and off for me

but when i started using soft lenses, i just put it on easily the first time

i don't really have to open my eyes that wide o.o;

hold ur lids opeb with ur other fingers to get your contacts in....otherwise, you may need to send away for some custom made contact lenses? its true, some brands will have varying diameters of contacts to cater for diff eyes..

did you go to an eye doctor? shouldn't he be able to order them online for you since he writes the prescriptions? seems like you need another brand. if they don't fit they can scratch you eyes and that's not good. there are lots of brands and lots of soft contacts. even for astigmatism.

it takes a while to get used to soft and hard lenses

i use soft lense and my eyes are like slits
ur supposed to put in the bottom first then like diagonally put it in
and just watch it and wait for the air inbetween the contact and
your eye to go away then blink and couple times

maybe the diameter of the eye contact is too big for your eye? it happens to my sister too and she had to order ones that were smaller and ones that fit her eyes ><

i had trouble putting them in the first time i tried. i got my sister to do it for me since she uses lenses as well. try getting someone else to do it for you. i had problem with my left eye last time and i had to have either my sister or my friend to put it on and it worked all the time. now i can put it on myself. i just have to blink a few times and the lense will adjust itself to the right spot.
