Hello soompiers,

A portion of my final exam in AP Government requires that I conduct a survey of the public and their opinion of politics. If anyone would be willing to help out, then please simply fill out the following survey.

Thank you in advance for helping me out with part of my final exam =]

A few sentences in response to each question would be fine. If you are willing I would also appreciate it if you left your age as well as ethnicity(caucasian, asian, hispanic, etc) in your post.

How do you define Politics?

Would you call yourself a Political Person?

Do you think Politics is important? Why?

Does Politics turn you off? Why?

How about your family and Politics?

Do you discuss it at home?

Any interesting family political stories?

Are you following the primary election?

Who do you support at this time?

Do you plan to vote in the future?

Who is your favorite President in U.S. history? Why?

Anything you wish to add?

How do you define Politics?

Politics is the art of getting elected and staying in power.

Would you call yourself a Political Person?

Yes very much so

Do you think Politics is important? Why?

Our founding fathers (assuming this is American) gave us rights and we primarily protect them via the ballot box.

Does Politics turn you off? Why?

Yes.... because it's so cynical.

How about your family and Politics?

My mom and dad aren't really political types. Whoever has good education plans more or less. They generally tend to vote liberal in national scale elections although voted conservative (and for reform candidate Jesse Ventura XD) once in a while.

Do you discuss it at home?

More or less how much we have contempt for the policies of the Bush administration, the pork barreling Congress, and the ineffective bureaucracy that is in place currently.

Any interesting family political stories?

My dad voted for Jesse "The Body" Ventura =P

Are you following the primary election?

Yes

Who do you support at this time?

Senator Barack Obama, Senator Joe Biden (I still hope that they tap him to be either Secretary of State or potentially even as a running mate... which is unlikely but still)

Do you plan to vote in the future?

Yes

Who is your favorite President in U.S. history? Why?

Ummm.... Washington. He set a moral precedent for various things along with political precedents while he was President (say that 3 times fast XD) such as not retaining onto power for more than two terms, a foreign policy that does not fight for expansionism, and a policy keeping the government small but strong.

Anything you wish to add?

I am a social liberal and a fiscal conservative. I believe taxpayer money should not go recklessly out to pork barreling, nor should it go to support a bureaucracy that does not work. We need to be stringent with taxpayer dollars and we should not infringe upon the rights of people.

I would politically align very closely with George Washington. And I believe the system doesn't work. That's why I support candidates like Obama or even Mike Huckabee who represent change. I'm not a real big fan of the issues, the issues are more or less the same to me, it's who can get the job done.

My ideology would probably fit best with someone like Senator Edwards, but he in my opinion seem like such a polarizing figure, attacking mainly Hillary (although I am no fan of Hillary and I think she is exactly what I don't want in a politician) within his own party. I don't think he's an effective politician as his record in the Senate was not particularly strong. (Although as a trial lawyer I think he'd do wonders taking on big oil companies and insurance companies)

Not a fan of Hillary because she is so calculated. That crying in my opinion was calculated, (and it worked...) she seems someone who is doing everything she can to get elected and not "spreading her word".

Out of the current Republicans I in particular admire Mike Huckabee (wouldn't support him... but just a comment I was a fan of him before he became mainstream =P) and John McCain. Romney and Guliani scare me with their rethoric which I believe is betraying the ideals of the Constitution.
