well.. not exactly everday of the week, but like 5 days a week. Usually at the gym, I do just like cardio for 20-30 min., then weight training for 20 min., then 120 sit-ups. I've been doing it for a week now, and my weight is still the same.

I have a healthy diet. I don't eat big portions, I just don't know why i can't lose those pounds.

depressed. anyone wanna help me out?

-edit-

since everyone's asking whats my definition of eating healthy, here it is.

I ALWAYS EAT BREAKFAST, NO MATTER WHAT. sometimes omelet, or cereal, or sometimes for a bigger treat: Pho (Vietnamese Soup Noodles)

Little snacks in between

Sometimes I skip lunch, but my lunch are usually like ham sandwich, rice w/ vegetables. sometimes subway and other mall foods since i work in the mall.

Little snacks in between (if theres anys)

Dinner: sometimes I eat out, sometimes rice w/ soup, cheesebreads, huge turkey/tuna/chicken sandwiches, and other time its what I have for lunch

You might just be gaining muscle. It's denser than fat, but it doesn't take up as much space, so you should be getting slimmer, even if the scales don't show it.

^yep

so measure yourself to see if your losing inches atleast

but if someone has like a high % of body fat
its possible to lose 10lbs in 2-3 weeks, like 6lbs one week and 4lbs the other...

What everyone else said above, you're probably gaining muscle which weighs more than fat. Also, you've just been doing it for a week, dear. Try being a little more patient. I say give it 2 weeks and you'll start to see some changes. As you exercise, just remember that results will not appear instantly. It will happen over a gradual process if you keep at it. Also, I read somewhere that to lose a pound a week, you have to decrease your daily calorie intake by 500. So if your usual calorie intake is about 2200, decrease to 1700. Just don't starve yourself because that does more harm than good. Well, good luck!

if it's not muscle weight, then you aren't doing something right.
OR you're skinny enough that you're already at a plateau and need to change your plan.

....you've been doing it for a week. don't get to upset, it's only been ONE week. anywho like many said, try measuring yourself along with weighing yourself.

it's really hard to say why you wouldn't be seeing results though because you claim to be eating a healthy diet and doing so many minutes of cardio and weights, but you don't specify what your routine includes, so I can't say whether it's really effective or not. bump up your weight training.

most girls get really spazy when it comes to weights but if you want to lose weight and see results you need to do weights....and more than 20 minutes. try 30-45. it seems like a long time but for each machine (or set of weights) try 3x12. just remember lower reps with high weights will build muscle while the opposite while the opposite tone. also remember that you'll be taking breaks in between your sets, so that 30-45 min will pass by really quickly.

mix up your cardio as well. do the treadmill one day, elliptical the other and the bike (you can get an awesome work out on the bike so long as you have a high resistance and keep the speed up)...try running outside. just remember to mix it up. also when you are on the machine, turn up the resistance (esp. on the bike and elliptical)

just remember to adjust your diet to your activness, of course you want to lose weight but you have to remember to supplement your diet with protein and and good carbs (important). give it time. work out 3-5 times a week, you'll see results. just don't get caught up in it though, or you'll just get frustrated

U should do 45 mins to 1 hr of cardio.
20 mins of cardio is not enough,
at the time ur body has just started warming up

do cardio for long... say 45 mins then increase it to an hour ... also increase intensity
do weight like every second day... \

what do u classify as a healthy diet ?

n how loong have u been goin to the gym

also u would have gained muscle mass...so dont measure ur self by weight but rather how u feel in ur clothes..

yeah dedicate your 1 hour to running/cardio, you dont need to do muscular strength exercises. 1 hour = 5-6 miles at a slow pace so yeah.. work the heart and you will lose weight fast..

^nah i dont think u need to do that much cardio...20-30 minutes is enough if you really put a lot into it and work up a good sweat/are breathing heavy afterwards, also strength exercises are important to maintain ur muscle b/c if u diet u lose fat AND muscle so dont cut out weighttraining! u need the muscle to burn! >__< n scales are really sucky at measuring ur fat loss @__@...you may have lost weight already but maybe have extra food/water weight in u or muscle swellings that make u weigh more...but yeah i wouldn't worry about it too much..after 5-days a 1 lb drop in the scale isnt expected anyways lol +__+...stick to ur workouts for another week n then weigh yourself again im sure u'll see a change...also be sure to weigh in in mornings as ur weight fluctuates throughout the day >__< okies that was long but hope it helped lol

If you're overweight, and let's say over your averag weight for your height, then it would be healthy to lose 10lbs in a month.

If you're healthy or average weight and trying to lose 10lbs and you're working out the way you are, which might result in over training because you should give your body 2-3 days rest----I would say expect about 2 months.

yes, but that's similar to a crash diet since you stop 'eating' and you usually gain it back once you stop eating properly. it does help somewhat, but it's only a quick-fix and eating healthy+exercise is still the best way to go (:

10lb=1 month? really? sounds a little too good to be true xD

in order to lose weight, you should be doing at least 30 minutes of cardio and then weight training. you can do cardio for an hour at a time, but strength training is also important to shape your muscles.

and it's only been a week; you won't be seeing results yet!

i dont think 20 minutes cardio is enough because to loose 1lb, you need to run 30 miles at one time/ or one day. i was told that by a doctor. so instead of tryingto loose 10 lbs a weak, try starting with 3lbs a week and then work yourself harder and see wut you can do.

exactly. rather than weighing yourself you should measure yourself to check your progress biggrin.gif

you are doing too few minutes of cardio.
For effective weight loss 1 to 2 hours is preferable along with weight training.
At twenty minutes, most likely you will be done burning off the extra carbs floating around but not tapping into the fat that you want to burn off. Cardiovascular exercises are usually more intense and thus have a higher rate of metabolizing ATP (energy) so bump up cardio, just don't do too much all of a sudden. Ease yourself into it and do it with vigor.

Don't forget weight training also. The more muscle that you gain, the more calories that your body will use up every day. So as your muscles grow, your basal metabolic rate will also grow. =D

If you are already on the heftier side, the scale and measuring tape won't tell you a thing because muscles will grow under the fat. Just keep at it and don't be discouraged! With time, exercise and healthy eating, it will come off.

as for eating healthy, what are you eating? healthy eating is more than just counting calories. . . I'm sure you know this already, but i would be interested to know exactly what you are eating to see if there are any hidden, destructive components- i'm sure there isn't, but just curious.
=]

I wish you good luck!

You shouldn't do so many sit ups, because that only builds the muscles underneath your fat. biggrin.gif lol, not i'm saying you're fat or anything. I'm just saying. biggrin.gif

Anyways, cardio is really good. If you want to loose weight all over, run a lot. Its a lot quicker that way.
Lifting weights also helps you.. I've noticed that you've already started. Try to do a lot of sets, without using a lot of weight.
for arms, try like 20 pounds, lift like 25 times. do 4 sets.
legs do like 60 pounds. don't go over 100.
Guys get big muscles and legs because they lift A LOT OF WEIGHT and do very few sets.

so yeah.

GOOD LUCK!!

If you have been only doing that routine for a week don't suspect to see changes! At least wait 2 or 3 weeks to see a difference. Also one exercise that I have been doing to trim my stubborn thighs is pilates...they say it takes a month to see the difference, but I saw it in 2 weeks.

Keep it up though, I think your doing a great job!
