Hi, all.
Normally, I don't care so much about SAT1 Math, but I need help in improving my math to a 700.
This is what describes my math
PSAT 2006 - 57
Practice Test CB in August of 07 - 610-630ish
SAT October 2007 570
PSAT Oct 2007 - 65
Practice Tests from Collegeboard Online : the highest is 640
After I look at every question and check my wrong answers, I know why it's wrong and I can solve the problem.
But, my score remains the same.
I can tell you that I'm very capable of doing the hard problems IF I had more time.
Sometimes, I miss problems because of careless errors (i.e. I added wrong, or I didn't read a phrase correctly, or I used a wrong number to add, like that). And I'll understand them once I do them, and I'm pretty capable of doing them.
Sometimes I overthink a problem and I feel somewhat disconfident about a problem when it sometimes is right.
What can I do? This problem has been occurring for a long time.
On a side note, I am a very motivated person, by the way, and I don't go to test tutoring places. I approach the SAT Math very comfortably because they are really easy problems that look hard, but I still get around a 650. Help!

A 50 point improvement is possible if you practice enough. It sounds like your main problem is with focus (i.e. making careless errors) which I can't really tell you how to do because I'm not you. But I guess eating right, sleeping right, exercise and relaxation can help you with that.
Also, are you answering every single question and missing the hard ones? Perhaps it would benefit you to strategically skip some questions to yield a higher score. This also may help you with your time management.

hm.. i make careless mistakes too. =/
just make sure you have time left over at the end of each section to check over ur math.
make sure u get the easy ones right and dont fret too much over hard ones cuz they're all worth the same amount of points. dont think of anything else while taking the test. dont rush through anything. etc =D

Do what I do. Underline the question they're asking. Circle the procceses and denote them in order.
That should really help you, I got a 80 on PSAT math so it really did work for me this way.

I got a 640 on my first try at SAT, then on my second try I got a 700.
I practiced A LOT, especially using barrons & princeton review practice tests.
I actually spent more time practicing the harder problems as opposed to the easy ones
because when you practice the hard ones more you're able to see the 'tricks' that they use to make the hard ones a little more confusing.
Also on the test, I refused to put an answer on ones that I wasn't ABSOLUTELY sure about--however, since points dont get taken off incorrect answers from the free response, I just tried to answer all of those.
Good luck ^^; you can do it
