Making A Video.....

Well, I am doing a video for my history finals and I want to do so many things on that video but I don't know how! So please help!

I have the program Windows Movie Maker right now, is there any better programs out there that allows you to put a picture on an existing video but still keep the audio from the video?

And if you know how, can you please show me how to put a video on a little box on a picture or a clip?

ohh
um no free options, the best is adobe premiere there is a trial but im not sure if thats enough for you. Adobe premiere elements is pretty powerful imo and almost reasonable in price. There is pinnacle studio as well but I don't like ti very much.
