today we actucally got connected the wi-fi but not when we got on safari it say that it cannot find server.
we have sbs global as our internet BTW..
i got 4 questions if u don't mind :
1) i found the ip address, subnet mass(?). do we need to replace it with the one in the ipod touch. it already had it installed in there. ?
2)is the default gateway number the router number?
3) is the DNS number the same as the Connection-specifc DNS suffix? that what it says when i searched on my computer( Windows XP Home Professional)
if so then here comes my other question:
4)for the DNS number my computer says the gateway.2wire.net.
and all these other peoples are getting numbers.. how can i find that out the number.

What does the ipod touch get?
I know 2wire ones use a password by default. Make sure you get the password from your router. Those MIGHT have the password written on the bottom of it. Not sure.
If the IP is like 192.168.... then its correct
Subnet masks should be like 255.255.255......
Router and DNS often changes, but a lot of them use like 192.168.0.1 for both.
If you arent getting those, most likely you entered the password wrong. And if thats the case, click forget this network and just start over.

the ipod touch gets 2Wire220 that is the stongest one.the password my sis found was admin.
~the Ip address that was one the ipod touch was 169.254.109.198 but when i heard we have to change it to match our comp and that IP address was 192.168.1.116. should we change it?
~the subent mask that was in the ipod was 225.225.0 but the one on our comp was the same as the one in the picture above.
should we change it as well?
i am not so sure about the router and the DNS.. i think that those two are not getting us connected to the internet.

The password you are seeking is a WEP key, they look like 2c33405876732042437e65245e type things
Typically under the wireless/wifi settings.
Enter the key and those things will set automatically. Right now you're "connecting" but its getting kicked out because it doesn't have the key to connect to the router.

No, that should not be necessary to match the settings of a computer. You wouldn't want the same IP on two things anyways (you will get errors). The wep key I gave was a random one so you could get a idea of what it would look like. Its supposed to be unique for your network so other people can't use it. Once you get the security issues fixed, it should fill those in automatically and you won't have to mess with the numbers.
That wep key is found as a setting in your router, I think some 2wire routers write the wep key on the bottom of the router.
